A couple of PMs ago we were awarding Knighthoods. Today we’re refusing a VC to a teenager who strapped himself into the chair of a deck gun on his sinking ship to save his mates by downing Japanese aircraft strafing them in the water, knowing he’d die. His name was Teddy Sheean.
