Humanity Is Dying, and We’re Still Complaining
“I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.”
(D.H. Lawrence, published in his 1929)
Read those words again.
Let them sit there for a moment before you continue reading.
You see, somewhere along the way, humanity forgot something that even a dying bird seems to understand. Life does not owe us comfort, fairness, or an explanation for every wound we suffer.
Look around you. We live in a world where people will step over a homeless man to buy a cup of expensive coffee, look the other way when someone we know is dying of cancer, destroy someone’s reputation to protect their own, and watch another human being fall apart while scrolling past their suffering on a phone. We have more ways to communicate than any generation before us, yet we have somehow become experts at ignoring one another.
Everybody has a story. Everybody carries something. But somewhere between our expectations and our endless demands, we began treating our pain as the only pain that matters.
We have become a society that wants compassion without inconvenience, kindness without sacrifice, and respect without earning it. We demand that others understand our struggles while refusing to spare five minutes to understand theirs or eat a meal with them. We want the world to be gentle with us, even as we sharpen our words against everyone around us.
And God help the person who refuses to play along. Tell the truth, and you are cruel. Set a boundary, and you are selfish. Expect accountability, and suddenly you are the problem.
No, life is not fair. Some people suffer through things they never deserved. Good people bury their children. Families go hungry. Veterans sleep in cars. The sick lie awake wondering how much time they have left. And somewhere, someone is laughing at another person's misery because cruelty has become entertainment. That is the part that should frighten us.
Not that life can be brutal, but that human beings can witness brutality and feel absolutely nothing. We cannot stop every tragedy. We cannot carry every burden. But we can stop making this world colder than it already is.
The "wild thing" does not feel sorry for itself. Humanity, meanwhile, has learned to feel sorry for itself while stepping over everyone else.
Maybe the world does not need more people demanding to be understood. Maybe it needs more people willing to understand someone else.
If you remember this song and it came out when you where growing up.

Son: Dad, why does this song feel like everything just slows down?
Dad: Son, that's exactly what we loved about it. For a few minutes, the whole world could wait.

Current Situation:
No plant workers or civilians were injured. All 30 to 40 employees who were inside the facility when the blaze broke out at 9:00 AM have been safely accounted for. One responding firefighter has hospitalized for overnight observation for exhaustion. As of the last report given at 7:32 pm PDT, Firefighters continue to manage the remaining structure fire, which caused a partial roof collapse over the building's freezer and ice operations.
According to local authorities. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and they continue to recommend that anyone in the immediate downwind area stay indoors and wear a mask if they must step outside into the lingering smoke.
Please keep everyone involved in this and in the surrounding areas in your prayers.
I’m not looking for opinions. It’s either you do it, or you don’t.
If you are friends with me, you should be aware of my sentiments regarding Veterans. I am fairly confident that I already know 22 individuals who will assist, but I am hopeful that I will receive more responses, as this is a pressing concern. 22 Veterans succumb to their struggles daily. May I ask a few friends to copy and repost this message? Someone's life may depend on it. ❤️🩹

The charges have been forwarded to the county attorney's office for review.
We obtained the report via FOIA after receiving a tip about this story

Can we just go back in time when marrying your brother, strangling your children, and trying to un-alive political opponents were all bad things?
Replying to @Hunter_Eagleman
No national survey data on the % of consanguineous marriages in Somalia is available in standard global compilations. A 2019 genetic study of 39 Somali samples found 48.7% had FROH levels matching offspring of second-cousin (or closer) unions, with mean FROH of 0.0181, linked to cultural cousin-marriage preferences among some groups.
I've had a few people ask what the inside of my little cottage looks like. Here ya go ... Simple... The kitchen is behind me.
This morning, Sunday, October 25, 2026, a massive structure fire broke out at the Pacific Seafood processing plant on Newport’s historic Bayfront.
Due to a dangerous ammonia leak mixed into the heavy smoke and concerns over an ammonia tank explosion, authorities issued an immediate Level 3 "Go Now" evacuation order for a one-mile radius surrounding the facility.
Please keep everyone in the area I'm your prayers.
