My office has been in Jefferson, Wisconsin for many years. I can't believe we were visited by the Japanese ambassador as well as the top man at Kikkoman. biztimes.com/viewpoints-japa…

In Edgerton, Wisconsin, I visited the childhood home of Sterling North. The Japanese anime classic inspired by his autobiographical tale has been loved for decades. It's remarkable how a boy's story continues to build lasting bridges between Japan and the US! -Ambassador Yamada
His Excellency Shigeo Yamada, Ambassador of Japan to the USA, visited the Sterling North Museum yesterday. @JpnCons_Chicago #あらいぐまラスカル
Shown here with Consul-General Yuichi Oba and Andrew Seaborg, Honorary Consul of Wisconsin, while walking from the Museum to the library, past the church.
During the tour of the Museum, I believe Oba-san began to sing "Rock River E," the theme song of Nippon Animation's "Araiguma Rascal." @Rascal_tweet

I am excited to learn that the Ambassador of Japan to the USA, Shigeo Yamada, will be visiting the Sterling North Museum in Edgerton, Wisconsin on September 18, and presenting a gift of a Library of Japan to the public library there.
I would love to buy a copy of this... I saw an eBay auction that ended a few weeks ago. I wonder what stories it tells about Rascal?
This afternoon I will be at the Kikkoman Cookout, a "matsuri" on the shore of the Rock River, about 100 yards from my office where I'm writing my book about "Rascal". The Sterling North Society has a table there to tell people about "Araiguma Rascal." business.jeffersonchamberwi.…
The smoke of forest fires in Canada has blown down to Wisconsin and Brailsford. Air quality is the worst it has ever been.
On my birthday on May 24 I received a call from Sterling's grandson. He wanted to send several items to the Museum. Last night the Society opened the boxes. We now have Sterling's banjo that he bought in high school, and his typewriter from the mid-1930s.
From the intro of a "Rascal" paperback from 1969. Sterling's farmhouse is still there. I hope it can be restored!

In May 1931, Sterling North was a reporter at the Chicago Daily News, and he wrote two stories about the visiting Prince and Princess Takamatsu.
I recently assisted Haruko Kono, a writer for architecture web site Wakuwaku Chintai ("exciting homes,") on an article about the Sterling North home and museum in Edgerton.
