I did the math on Starlink vs AT&T Fiber because I couldn't help myself.
Almost the same number of customers, 13.6M vs 13.31M. Same bill, about $70 a month.
Starlink built its network for about $1,070 per customer. AT&T spent about $4,200 digging trenches.
But satellites burn up after about 5 years, and fiber just sits in the ground for 30. So Starlink spends about $17.80 a month per customer replacing satellites, while AT&T pays about $11.70.
Cheap Starship launches could flip that math. My money's on the sky.
Musk thinks 20β30 million robots could produce as much as the entire US, where about 164 million people work and earn an estimated US$17 trillion a year, including the self-employed.
Using his US$30,000 build cost per robot, thatβs US$600β900 billion to build them all, about two to three weeks of what those people earn, but that leaves out the cost of running the robots or whether they could actually do it.

Was Cybertruck a commercial flop, even with more orders than Tesla can build before tearing down the Texas line next June or July for Cybercab?
Tesla reported a positive gross margin in Q3 2024, but that doesnβt tell us whether the truck earned back the development and factory investment Forbes estimated at over US$2 billion.
Starlink roundup,
Musk is aiming for another 10x jump per satellite with Starlink V4, including 10-terabit-per-second laser links. That is a target he described at Baron, not performance delivered in orbit.
India: Starlink, Jio and OneWeb have licences, but government sources say all three still await security clearance and spectrum allocation and pricing before commercial rollout.
Canada: 30% off Residential and Roam in eligible areas if you sign up by Nov 30. The reduced price lasts while the subscription stays active. Check your address.
Viasat: US fixed broadband subscribers are down to about 100,000 from 603,000 in Q3 2020, an 83% fall. That does not mean every lost customer switched to Starlink.

People are saying Cybercab crashed Uber prices in Austin.
There are cheaper quotes on some routes, but no solid public evidence Tesla caused a citywide or Texas-wide fare cut.
The best broad data still has Austin's median human-driven Uber and Lyft price up 10.5% from Q2 2024 to Q2 2026, a bit less than the 11.7% rise outside robotaxi markets. This is before Cybercab launch.
After Cybercab launched in September, screenshots go both ways, and Tesla's own intro prices went up and now move with demand.
After mid-2027, the market for electric trucks becomes thinner.
Tesla is winding down Cybertruck production around then, not discontinuing.
You can't buy a new Ford all electric pickup, and other main options left are Rivian's R1T and GM's Silverado EV and Sierra EV.

Starlink might have a path into India's direct to cell market.
India's regulator just proposed letting regular phones talk to satellites on bands telcos already use, then selling through those telcos instead of to customers.
That's already how Direct to Cell works.
Tesla's sales in Germany nearly quadrupled in October, and two Chinese brands still outsold it.
KBA counted 2,932 new Teslas, up 291% from 750 a year ago.
So who beat it?

Starlink didn't just give United faster Wi-Fi. It let them put your actual Spotify account on the seatback.
And United's own people say this is the start of every living-room app, because raw connectivity will stop being a differentiator.

Starlink is having a big week.
United has it on 50% of daily flights. Air Tahiti Nui is putting it on every 787-9. easyJet starts rolling it out in the first half of 2027. ZIPAIR's passenger revenue jumped 12.3% after going full-fleet, though JAL credits pricing too.

Someone quoted "16 months" from my Starlink math. The honest number is about 24, and AT&T Fiber's is about 143. Here's why, plus what US$70 really buys on each.

US$100M a year would pay for about 3,500 Cybercabs, and that's what Tesla's Texas Robotaxi zones could already bring in. My napkin math puts the fleet at roughly US$33M a year in fares today, because it's short on cars, not riders.
About 1 in 10 Texans now lives inside a driverless Tesla zone, roughly 2.85M people across Houston, Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth, which opens this morning.
How I got there:
What people spend. Americans spend about US$140 a year each on Uber rides, averaged over everyone. Waymo pulls about US$54 per person living in its zones (about 475K paid rides a week at around US$20, across 9.5M residents).
Tesla at Waymo's level. 2.85M Texans x US$54, cut by a third because Tesla's median ride is US$8.95, about two thirds of Waymo's. That's about US$100M a year.
The ceiling is higher. Waymo gets about 40% of what people spend per head on Uber. If robotaxis replace most ride hailing, the same 2.85M people spend about US$400M a year, out of roughly US$4.5B Texans spend on Uber rides overall. In Austin, Waymo only runs inside the Uber app, so there Tesla is taking on Uber directly.
The real limit today. 1,244 cars registered in Texas, at 5 to 8 rides a day, caps Texas at about US$19M to US$33M.
Is it profitable? Today each car brings in about US$26K a year. Running one costs about US$19K (charging, cleaning, insurance, tires, parking) plus US$5K to US$6K to write off a US$25K to US$30K Cybercab over five years. Roughly break even. At Waymo's pace of about 20 rides a day, a car brings in about US$65K and keeps around US$40K, paying for itself in under a year. Serving the full US$100M takes only about 1,500 cars at that pace.
So every car Tesla adds is revenue waiting to happen. The Texas fleet more than doubled in October, and 573 of those are Cybercabs.
Rough estimates on public data. Operating costs are an outside estimate, not Tesla's. Remote operators, depots and empty miles aren't counted, and neither are free first rides.
