Michael has passed out of the zeitgeist by now, but i'm still intrigued by what was asked of its young star--to not just represent his uncle but become a spiritual medium for him
october’s free column is on something that’s been on my mind for a few months now: it seems like a common thread thru many of the year’s biggest (and smallest) films is that they treat performance as a spectacle no less momentous than CG explosions api.omarshehata.me/substack-…

Praying that everyone earnestly advocating for Elizabeth Holmes’ innocence after You Can See Everything stays very far away from cults bc it would be lights out for y’all I’m afraid

Per Opta Stats, this is the first time ever both the Timberwolves and Vikings have been undefeated at the same time (min. 2 games played).
Enjoy, Minnesota sports fans!

YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING outgrossing MELANIA in four days despite being on a fraction of the number of screens is not terribly surprising, but it is more evidence that Amazon/Bezos massively overpaid for that hunk of junk as a sort back-channel bribe to the Trumps.

To sum up my feelings on You Can See Everything:
If you watch it and don't feel at least a little bit sorry for Elizabeth Holmes, you have no heart
But if you watch it and actually think she was innocent, you have no brain

reminder that if you can name a single Senate candidate in a state other than the one you live in running in this year’s midterms you are so wildly outside the window of the median voter you should probably recuse yourself from political polls

Important context in here around the quote -- Holmes said other things contemporaneously expressing the same idea, strongly suggesting the NYT had the quote right.
In today's @nytimes Backstory newsletter, I talk to Amy Chozick about the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary and Holmes's dispute over a quote from Chozick's NYT profile of her. The movie brings up the quote several times as it assesses Holmes's veracity. nytimes.com/2026/10/22/insid…

Trump on Jon Husted: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

Ohio politics blogger and Shrek penis pic texter guesses that long-time Vance advisor and former DHS Tricia's husband/ Kristi Noem $200M horseback ad-maker were the two masterminds of the Vivek Amy Acton molestation mother ad.
(I just had to write that sentence because it will never again be possible to string those words together. Let me have hobbies.)
Replying to @OhioCrawler
All roads lead to Jai Chabria and Strategy Group CEO Ben Yoho as the masterminds of the ad.
Spokeswoman Connie Luck, who was already en route to Hell, should never work in politics ever again, either, for trying to cast doubt on Acton's well-documented trauma.

Not to mention how they had to reshoot the movie because they planned to make the molesting of Jordan Chandler out to be a misunderstanding. The movie was intended to make people idolize MJ there is no award for doing that. Especially in honor of a child molester.

Yes. This does not sound *in any way* like something some nerd just made up.
Netflix is getting rocked behind the scenes, and our source says Narnia is part of the problem.
Film chief Dan Lin was fired over the weekend.
Chief content officer Bela Bajaria was already out.
Now a Paramount source tells CBN:
“Development frozen right now.”
Scripts and pitches are reportedly sitting in limbo, with people unable to even get calls or emails answered.
Then the source went right at Greta Gerwig’s Narnia:
“Narnia is a mega woke slop insanity.”
“Think Amazon Rings of Power but worse.”
The $280M movie was already said to be in trouble internally, with insiders calling it “awful” and “a genuine problem.”
Reshoots followed a summer test screening.
The first trailer then got hammered with dislikes.
Now Dan Lin is gone with the movie just months from release.
Our source also says this is bigger than Netflix.
“More firings are coming. And not just Netflix.”
Disney, Hulu, Amazon Prime and others are all said to be making moves.
The source’s blunt summary:
“Glut = Slop.”
And with Paramount and Warner Bros. now combined under Skydance, the pressure is only going up.
Netflix has already lost two of its top content executives in a matter of days.
According to our source, the shakeup is only starting.
