Happy All Hallows' Eve, if anyone reading this could find the time to say a prayer for my deceased great-grandmother and my deceased grandfather that would be appreciated. Also I encourage people to comment their own deceased family so I may pray for them.

What advice can I give? The only advice there really is:
Fear God and dread nought.
Everything that can be done, is. It will be enough or it won't. But we're Believers and so we know how it all ends.

my father just died of a sudden cardiac arrest. i need your prayers.
i’m pretty sure you’re self defense laws are similar to most states, so if all @Catholicizm1 does it punch you in the face or slaps your glasses off - you actually can’t use deadly force. you can respond with force, but not deadly force.
And if you did somehow end up using deadly force, I would drag this video into the trial to show that you had premeditation and using deadly force against him.

Tina Fey admits she judges rich people who keep launching side hustles when they already have hundreds of millions of dollars
Tina Fey: “I don’t get excited about money. If I’m safe and I have enough money to live, I have a problem with rich people having a side hustle.”
Amy Poehler: “Yeah, you mean like a podcast or something?”
Tina Fey: “No, that is you’re doing work. I’m saying, if you sold, like… where would my line be for you? Where would I draw the line?”
Amy Poehler: “Yeah, I know what you mean. Like if I had a rosé.”
Tina Fey: “If you already have, like, $200 million and you’re like, ‘Also, I need you to…’”
Amy Poehler: “But Tina, this is where you have to learn from Gen Z. I’m sorry, and we have to.”
Tina Fey: “They don’t care. They don’t judge it. They don’t judge it.”

Advent is almost here! Don’t forget— it’s a *penitential* season. Christmas is its own season and starts at the Christmas Eve Vigil! Without a real season of preparation, the celebration loses its weightiness and meaning. I really feel it reduces the incarnation to mere consumption. There is so much wisdom in the liturgical calendar.

In contrast, the Church leaders who I know in Uganda operate as fundamentally leaders of building the structures and social networks of civilization. They are not simply service providers for private spiritual needs. Likewise, the parish is the center of social life and not simply a provider of a service for one’s personal spirituality.
To what extent does the narrative promoted by the Catholic Church reflect the sensibilities and assumptions of the upper middle class and upper class? Does American Catholics spirituality fundamentally reflect a population with access to economic and social resources and thus the emphasis is a relational/ therapeutic model?
