I never knew there were so many pilots on X. Literally every second person on here could have navigated that Learjet to safety.
At the end of the day, the pilots screwed up and entered the gauntlet of the storm systems, which cost a family and their friend's lives. People can debate DEI or not.
People can talk about the "heroics" of the co-pilot's communications... but this wouldn't have happened if they had fully diverted away from the storm system, instead of trying to cut through a corridor to the Bahamas.
The arrogance of the flight crew to think that a Learjet, known for ice-related aerodynamic problems, can handle a Floridian unpredictable mess of storms is just crazy. Storms grow rapidly inside the system and can easily tear a plane like a Learjet apart. As soon as she said "clear light ice," that was already inching close to disaster... at that point it should have been a clear emergency scenario even before entering the final storm cell.
If they had followed the rule of maintaining at least 20 miles from the storm's edge, they could have been fine, just arrived late.
The male pilot had non-continuous employment, and his actual total experience is questionable. The female young co-pilot was only 20... depth of experience is just not a "thing" at that age.
That decision to enter that storm system is what killed innocent lives, and no amount of "glazing" the female pilot, or blaming the male pilot, changes that. It was still a joint decision by the flight crew.
Losing AGOA benefits can't cripple an economy that's already been cut at the knees by you and your thieving ANC.
But fuck you very much @Derek_Hanekom.
Black South Africans giddy with glee to blame Afriforum for losing AGOA, please use your SI before posting on social media🙏
Replying to @Rolandschoeman
South Africa loses AGOA eligibility from 1 Jan 2027 after President Trump determined it fails criteria on barriers to US trade/investment, corruption and national security/foreign policy threats (USTR statement).
2015 Obama warning: out-of-cycle review over longstanding poultry/pork/beef barriers; 60-day notice of ag-product suspension. Zuma government met benchmarks after negotiation, restoring access. Later Ramaphosa-era issues (expropriation, BEE rules, foreign policy) escalated US concerns through successive reviews.
US President decides annually via USTR-led interagency process per statute.
No evidence AfriForum/Solidarity determined the outcome. They lobbied US officials on property rights and minority concerns while urging retention of SA in AGOA to protect jobs; government policies and diplomacy are cited by US as the basis.
Hardest hit: automotive (Eastern Cape/Gauteng plants), citrus/wine/fruit (Western/Northern Cape rural areas), textiles. Estimates range 100k–500k+ direct/indirect jobs.
Even with the advent of SI and Google to dumb everything down if only you could fathom a meaningful question, black folk STILL don't have a grip on what AGOA is, what the impacts are or why SA lost it.👇🏻
Black and Woke White South Africans when they say "we won't be bullied" and then having visa restrictions imposed and AGOA revoked.
This is what Find Out feels like.
I love that @afriforum takes on rational, considered, formiddable intellectuals into their top structures.
Well done Dr Martin, very good move indeed.
Legal expert and outgoing Head of Policy at the Free Market Foundation (@FMFSouthAfrica), Dr Martin van Staden (@Martin_ASFL), has been appointed as Head of AfriForum’s new Institute for Federalism (AIF).
This institute will serve as the civil rights organisation’s research and policy development centre, as well as a vehicle for advancing the thought and research regarding self-determination, federalism, decentralisation, and community autonomy.
Welcome to the ANC's high treason docket, Martin 🫡

Black people are - objectively - worse off now.
I don't know why we expect people of substance to suddenly rise out of the ashes that is SA, take control and make the right decisions and rebuild something to a standard they can't fathom when the vast majority of SA'n souls are for sale for a mere streetwise 2.
Brilliant idea.
You have my vote @VFPlus.
The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) wants more of the rates and taxes collected in municipal wards to be spent in those same communities, with areas that collect more revenue receiving greater benefits. ewn.co.za/2026/10/29/should-…
You know we hit rock bottom when we normalize/trivialize and even praise Jacob Zuma's tenure of looting, destruction and state capture, because at least it's not as bad as @CyrilRamaphosa.
Faaaak, what an incredibly low bar we have.😞
You're talking to wrong Ambassador FFS @alanwinde!
You should be talking to @USAmbRSA @BrentBozell.
Roelf can't secure trade man, he's a Cyril puppet like you and you are to thick to realise that the Trump administration won't tollerate you wokies.
It was a pleasure meeting with South Africa's Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Mr Roelf Meyer, following our September visit to Washington, D.C.
We discussed trade, investment, tourism and innovation, all areas where the United States is a key partner for the Western Cape, and how stronger ties can drive economic growth in our province and across South Africa.
The Western Cape Government will keep building international partnerships that attract investment and create jobs for our residents.

You are the ANC now Helen.
Never, and I mean NEVER, will I vote @Our_DA again. I vote on principle, not on fear.
@VFPlus is the only way.
A vote for a small party is the ANC’s way back in!
Don’t split your vote among small-party councillors who will hold the city hostage and trade their votes for jobs.
Consolidate your vote behind the DA and let’s get Joburg working! 🗳️🇿🇦
