“Footy’s not forever. You’d love it to be, but it’s not. You need something to fall back on after footy. It’s so much easier now while you’re getting paid to send your feelers out and do some work experience.”

Love this! Honesty in this space is difficult to find but it's time we talked, especially in professional sport. Worth noting on our journey @TFW_Group @Jo_Per4m @CharteredfpSA @getsmarter

Many athletes are aware that their careers could end suddenly. But actually experiencing that reality is something that Rob is dealing with head-on. We wish him all the best. #athletetransition #lifeaftersport #lifeafterrugby

Loved this chat with Neil. One great pickup that aligns with one of @gmumm1 articles for us, which is that ultimately it's the athlete's responsibility to prepare for #lifeaftersport. Orgs like us just provide the mechanisms #athletetransition
Unusual that a rugby player makes 250 appearances for one club, as Neil de Kock did with @Saracens. Now back in the Cape & enjoying some work experience at the Remgro group, he joins us for a chat on The Sport Exchange with @John_C_Robbie bit.ly/2MO7o2J #LifeAfterSport

I’ve just touched Dover harbour wall. That’s the end. 530kms in 49 days. I’ve done my bit, now it’s time for Government to do theirs. #TheLongSwim – at Dover, England
Loved the bit from Avos about being "lucky" to be one of the last players in the era of being able to study and play, rather than sacking the studies in after a year in favour of professional sport. Current crop of athletes should have a similar mindset #lifeaftersport
We're back with Season 2 of The Sport Exchange podcast with @John_C_Robbie! First up is @Springboks legend, @Andre8Vos, revealing some fascinating stories about his playing career and the transition into the "real world": bit.ly/2JxXkEH #LifeAfterSport @SanlamPW

Fully recommend athletes past or present sign up for an @AthleteFutures Day. At some point, we’re all going to have to leave the field of play, don’t leave it until then! A brilliant initiative brought about to HELP us. I’ll be going to the Manchester date in October 👌🏻 teapaw.org/athletefutures/status/…
