Loyola previously competed in the NCAA from 1921-1972 before athletics was suspended. In 1991, athletics returned with baseball and began sponsoring women's sports programs as members of the NAIA.

Today, Loyola announced its membership to @NCAADII @GulfSouth welcoming supporters & athletics alum from some of its former NCAA teams.
Starting competition in fall of 2027, Loyola will become the first Division II school in Louisiana.
