A great evening for #Astro #Navigation 💫
Although we don’t usually navigate by the stars ⭐️ it’s important to learn the traditional skills of a #mariner just in case our #tech fails....and in weather like this it’s the perfect excuse to be on deck just as the sun sets. 🌊🚢🇬🇧
ALT Another glorious sunset as we make passage in the Atlantic.
ALT Our Young Officers learn how to navigate by the stars.
ALT This traditional skill is not easy to master, but it’s an important skill for our new mariners to learn.
ALT As darkness descends the stars and planets appear.

Fair winds and following seas to @hms_kent and @HMSDefender who both deploy today from @HMNBPortsmouth to maintain the UK’s global presence and, as we say in the Naval Prayer, be “a security for such as pass on the seas upon their lawful occasions” #ProtectingOurNationsInterests

Another evening afloat on the water. Great opportunity to undertake Coxswain and other rowing assessments.
