From next week we'll be delving into the history and people of Akoko-Edo and some there connections with the rest of Yorùbáland.
Some Yorùbá have been Edonised or have gone through Acculturation of Ẹdo/Benin customs and traditions while some Ẹdo peoples have been influenced by Yorùbá cultural mores.
These are the themes we'll treat;
-Yorùbánised Ẹdo people
-Ẹdonised Yorùbá people
Stay tuned @sleekyneeny @TYF_DeltaEdo

The Yoruba language has undergone changes in which some words that began with “U” shifted to “I”. In some cases, widespread use of Standard Yoruba has contributed to changes in pronunciation and the loss of original meanings.

Yes Benin was home to many Yorùbá sojourners who used the old Igodomigodo pathways to pass through trade routes linking them to the whole Delta-Edo region
Ado Ń Ekue isn't a one-way street, it also defines Àkúrẹ́ l/Yorùbá lineages that made their abode in Benin kingdom
Ethnogenesis: Ebu Kingdom
Ebu is a frontier town located at the horn of Delta State and at the Western Bank of the River Niger.
It is situated in a strategic location between Delta and Ẹdo State in the North, Anambra State in the East across the River Niger and a link to Kogi State, this makes Ebu a nodal town. It is bounded in the South and South West by Illah, Ukala Okpuno and Ezi respectively.
Though there exist several historical facts as to the origin of Ebu, she is believed to have been founded by a Benin Chief of Ado Ń Ekue lineage in the 16th Century, named Ubueni.
Evidence suggests that Ubueni met some Igala vpeople on the land, which made it an admixture of Igala and Ẹdo, but predominantly Igala.
This has created a form of identity problem for Ebu due to its geographical location among Enuani speaking people.
