During the SGR Phase 2a we accompanied a Senate committee visit after such demonstrations due to delayed land compensation and blasting activities. Some of the cases are yet to be concluded to date. The latest judgement was September '26 with the contractor's equipment ordered attached.

Ksh 12,000 compensation against an estimated Ksh 147,000 repair costs.
Another one had to abandon his fish rearing after the cages were destroyed. He only got Ksh 22,000.
These are silly games for such a consequential project, no?
This exact absurdity proves why @ntsa_kenya has no business setting speed limits on highways. When regulators arbitrarily slap blanket caps on multi-lane highways, you get traffic crawling artificially at 80 across every single lane, destroying highway throughput & lane discipline

The MJO atmospheric wave goes bullish with a high amplitude signal entering phases 1,2,3 (Africa, Western & Eastern Indian Ocean) later this week/early next week. Its convective core will pull anomalous, strong, warm and moist westerly winds from the Congo basin early next week through UG & Northern TZ deep into the Kenyan interior, probably as far east as Ukambani & Taita Taveta. These westerlies will converge with the Indian Ocean Trade Easterlies over large swathes of KE, bringing widespread heavy rains.
Preliminary short-range model precipitation charts are already giving signals of heavy-to-very heavy rains over Western, Nyanza, The Rift (especially Narok), Central highlands & #Nairobi.
For the first time this season, prospects for heavy, potentially destructive seasonal rains in #Nairobi & its environs are high. I will track these storms for the next 6 days & share a follow-up update on the likely flood hotspots.
Multi-model ensemble temperature outlook for #Nairobi for the next 7 days.
Max daytime temps at 3PM remain high for the next 4 days in a row, with possible highs of 28C to 30C. Tomorrow Thursday and Friday will be particularly hot with max daytime temps breaching 30C in some places like Eastlands.
Cooler temps expected from 26/10

East Africa could be on the verge of a major aviation policy shift.
The proposed EAC OPEN SKIES framework seeks to make flights between member states operate like domestic flights, while harmonising aviation taxes and charges. The intention is to bring down the cost of regional air travel.
Uganda’s Minister for East African Affairs, @RebeccaKadagaUG has backed the initiative.
The proposal grants qualifying EAC airlines up to fifth freedom rights.
This is firmly in the spirit of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM). More importantly, it could represent a significant step towards continental liberalisation, moving Africa from bloc to bloc integration towards a genuinely connected aviation market.
The Bill was introduced at East African Legislative Assembly in October. It is not law yet.
The ambition is significant. The real test, as always with African aviation will be implementation.
East Africa has an opportunity to set a precedent for the rest of the continent.

Upgrades at Wilson and recruitment drives by JKIA operators create a massive trickle-down effect. As senior crews move to heavy iron, entry-level flight deck opportunities finally open up for fresh CPL holders. Share widely and apply if you qualify.

I keep complaining about our hyperfocus on JKIA and nothing highlights this better than this story. We have 5 international airports. Of these five, only 2 are 24 hour operations the rest close down by 8:30. Of the 2 that are 24 hour ops, only 1 is fully

This is called NdiiCONomics. When you securitise the levy it means that the money cannot be used for its rightful purpose which is road maintenance. So to maintain roads you need to introduce another levy. Nonsense on stilts
