Some developers should be bold and use the density bonus to go over the coastal height limit. There are some lots, especially on the corner of Mission Blvd and Garnet that are ripe for big developments

Our society is being torn apart by the inability of many Americans to buy their own homes, yet the federal government taxes developers who build new, for-sale homes at much higher rates than it taxes developers who build rentals.
The problem with this question is that the revealed preference is being close to good jobs and amenities. If this wasn't the case you would have random wealthy suburbs nowhere near urban job centers all over the country
A major way local media has failed is by presenting housing opposition as a bunch of sober, rational smol beans fighting the powers that be when it's the exact opposite.
This video has over 1 million views, and I think it鈥檚 important to explain what I hope people take away from it. I'm not sharing it to shame the individual. He believes he's acting rationally and in the best interests of his organization within a system that has rewarded this behavior for decades.
I'm sharing it to show how our housing permitting system works, where the levers of power are, and how they're used to block the housing we need.
The problem isn't just the people pulling these levers. It's a broken system that makes blocking housing so easy.
It's time to completely reform Massachusetts' housing systems and eliminate the levers of delay that have been abused for so long.
The median price for a detached single-family home in San Diego is 1.1 million and a buyer would need a household income of 330k to afford to buy. It doesn't matter who used to live in a neighborhood or who currently owns, these are not working class neighborhoods.
These people just lie about everything. It's all they do all day long. They oppose housing in every single neighborhood from Talmadge, to the coast to Downtown San Diego and then the lie about housing advocates who openly advocate to build homes in the wealthiest neighborhoods
Airbnb killed the golden goose by not reining in their hosts.
This also doesn't work. People become less generous when they are stretched thin. So many fascist authoritarian states came from depressed or stressed economies.
