Today is #WorldOceansDay! I have been fortunate to learn about #Canada's diverse #shorelines and travel by helicopter to see and capture imagery of parts of our beautiful #coastline that I could have only dreamed about #OceansProtectionPlan #WorldOceansDay2020 @environmentca

Come chat with #twitterlessBhavana, @TaylorHarmerEC, @JasonDuffe and @Jonpasher about the awesome work done at @ECCCSciTech #NWRC! youtube.com/watch?v=AwoUu-df…
The health of our oceans and waterways, including pollution levels and oil spill concerns, should be a high priority for current and future generations of Canadians - so for #WorldOceansDay I showed my daughter the oceans on a map and she wore her ocean outfit! #ECCCFamily
#Fieldwork is an important aspect of our work to create the shoreline characterization #database. Over 33 days in 2018-2019, @ValerieWynja and I have mapped over 15,700 km of BC shoreline, collected over 140 hours of video and more than 167,000 photos! #WorldOceansDay
The #shoreline characterization database will identify the environmentally sensitive shoreline types, support the rapid response to #pollution incidents, and aid in effective clean-up effort #WorldOceansDay #OceansProtectionPlan #Canada #PacificOcean
See the link to our #Factsheet to check out the awesome work we do in the #Geomatics Lab - @ValerieWynja capturing images of the #BC shoreline!
It’s #WorldOceansDay! Last year, our scientists photographed the #BC shoreline from 🚁. This year, they are staying home to review the photos, building an environmental profile of 🇨🇦’s Pacific Coast. Find out more about shoreline mapping:

#WorldOceansDay #Update: Our team in the #Geomatics lab has completed the characterization of over 10,500 km of British Columbia coast which accounts for OVER 43% of all data collected! Lots of hard work and an amazing job by all involved!! #OceansProtectionPlan #AmazingTeam
One year ago today was @ValerieWynja and I's first day #mapping the #shoreline in north and central #BritishColumbia. We ended up mapping over 8,800 km of #coast in 2019. We will be back again to map more coast eventually! #StayHome #Fieldwork #Flashback #BellaBella #Kitimat
Interesting article assessing the horizontal and vertical accuracy for SfM #StructureForMotion reconstructions using different #UAV platforms without the use of GCPs. I'm excited to test a few things on our #Phantom4RTK once I can get back in the field! mdpi.com/699742
Hey #Ottawa friends! Keep and eye and ear out for the Snowbirds today around 5 pm as they fly past! 🛩️
THURSDAY'S FLYPASTS: Routes and times are subject to change. Watch our Facebook or Twitter accounts for updates on take-offs. #OPinspiration #cfsnowbirds #rcaf #ottawa #gatineau #montreal #quebec #cornwall
A few of my colleagues mentioned that they were missing #fieldwork... It just so happens that two years ago this week, we were installing Corner Reflectors and Water Level Loggers in Long Point! #FieldWorkFriday #FlashbackFriday @BenoitMontpetit @behnamian @HChen320
A bit of a rough commute this morning - there was construction on the stairs & a car accident at the bottom landing. Luckily, I was able to step over them, so it only added an extra 3 seconds to my commute. Total commute time: 13 seconds! Not too bad! #WorkingFromHome #traffic
To #celebrate #WorldWaterDay here are some amazing photos of the British Columbian coast that we captured as part of Canada's Oceans Protection Plan #OPP. Let's work together to keep #OurCoasts beautiful for everyone to enjoy!
Today is #WorldWaterDay! Our team at the @LandSciTech #Geomatics Lab at @environmentca is creating a baseline shoreline database to help #protect our #coasts in the event of an emergency! Thank you to @ValerieWynja, Bhavana, Huili, Andy, Matt and Lisa for all your amazing work!
One year ago today, I lost one of my great friends - Andrew. His engaging and infectious smile is still missed by all. Mental Health is important, there is hope even if your brain tells you there isn’t. So don’t be afraid to talk about it – we have all had bad days!
I'm here at the #ECCCSci tech awards to recognize the amazing job the #OPP team has done. @JasonDuffe @Jonpasher @ValerieWynja Andy, Bhavana, Huili, Lisa, Matt and I are receiving a scientific leadership award. Congratulations to everyone! So #Proud of my #team
Here it is, hot off the presses - the updated #OPP #Fact sheet for our #Shoreline #mapping in north and central British Columbia! Learn about how and why our team at the #NWRC #Geomatics lab is collecting and using this information. Download here: publications.gc.ca/site/eng/…
Today is @ValerieWynja's last day (temporarily!) in the #NWRC #Geomatics lab as she will be working with the DGO as a Sr. Science Advisor until the summer! Everyone in the lab, and especially from #TeamShoreline, wishes her the best of luck on this endeavor! We will miss you!
