I've had the privilege of reading this story (a lot) as I produced the email episodes. It's a remarkable story and somehow manages to be both a breath of fresh air and honest, in-depth science, brilliantly told. Go sign up.

At first I could not deal with Yet Another Twitter Alternative but... am I crazy to think this might actually work, at least for a subset of folks?

#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, asked about proving his critics wrong: “I had a purpose before anybody had an opinion.” ... “I know y’all liked that one.” 😂😂

*in a spooky whisper from the shadows of a dark woods* that AI can replicate the basic format of a high school level essay is an indictment of how writing is taught, not a sign that AI has become sentient

People don't want yet another platform to sign up and performatively comment on. (Well, I'm sure some people do, but not most.) They want useful and interesting stuff, in the broadest senses of those words. ('Enraging' counts as 'interesting', here.)

Any app trying to replace Twitter as a news source has to ask first, "What makes this app interesting and helpful, and particularly consuming and sharing news here?" and not "How do we convince journalists to talk about this?"

It was middle school, but: obsequy (the proctor's pronunciation confused me and I thought I heard a P instead of a B)
Everyone remembers the word that got them kicked out of the elementary spelling bee, right? Mine was yacht.
