So the plot of the John Lewis 2026 advert is as follows. Grandmother opens door to her obnoxious, rude and badly behaved grandchildren who proceed to trash her house. Motivated to distract them in some way she searches out a cherished Christmas wooden toy from the attic. But that fails to impress the little shits either. So she resorts to buy the entire Christmas stock of her local John Lewis store to bedeck a room in her London W1 townhouse with wonderment costing £ thousands. Only then do the spoilt little brats show any emotional engagement. What message does this put out, eh?

The King has reminded the Commonwealth that the Royal Navy led the way in ending the transatlantic slave trade.
In his speech at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting on Tuesday, he told leaders that the “complex” histories of their forebears must include “the good they did as well as the wrongs”.

The addled minds at Sky, who feel they can write such a misleading headline.
Give your heads a wobble, and perhaps get off the ACAB bandwagon.

The headline implies the police killed or injured two. This is not the case according the body of the article.
Officers walked towards a moped on foot. They rode off and crashed. Despite first aid from the police, one died.

As we have learned from the Chagos débâcle, ‘structured dialogues’ are a disaster for Britain. 1) The minute you’re in them, everyone thinks you’ve conceded the principle and are negotiating over the terms; 2) the Foreign Office seems incapable of negotiating Britain’s position because *they agree with the other side*; 3) once you’ve started then to stop makes you look like the bad guy and you lose all that valuable ‘soft power’.

Today Labour MPs have:
- said employers aren’t workers so they can tax them more (Reynolds)
- refused to commit to the 3% defence spending target (Healey)
- said we should rejoin the EU after campaigning saying we shouldn’t (Reeves)
- opened the door to slavery reparations by talking up an official apology (Burnham)

This may be the most damning statement ever uttered by a Labour minister. It's so revealing of the attitude of a government that thinks that employers are a class that don't work for their profits but somehow exploit others for them - rather than understanding the nature of small and medium-sized businesses and how bloody hard most employers work to create wealth and employment.

Have they considered letting people produce energy using the various industrial processes discovered over the last 200 years? Crazy idea, I know.
Europe’s energy ministers are running out of ideas to protect citizens from surging energy prices as winter approaches.

A Prime Minister furious with his own government, who doesn't think his own policies go far enough and wasnt impressed with his own budget certainly is doing things differently.
He's exercising a rather odd detachment, as if he's a political voyeur who has no say in outcomes.
Finally, I would like to issue a formal apology for the 100 Years War. I am especially sorry that it happened before I was born and was therefore unable to influence it in any way. You have no idea how formally sorry I am.

Facciamo girare.
