Today we remember PCs Fiona Bone & Nicola Hughes of @gmpolice. The unarmed officers were murdered 14yrs ago in 2012. Their death’s caused revulsion across the U.K & the world. We were honoured to erect our memorial to them. #HonouringThoseWhoServe #PoliceMemorials #PoliceFamily

In January we were judged 'Needs Attention' for Achievement. 6 months later, our Year 6 SATs are over 80% in R/W/M/SPaG. What changed? Not the teaching.
Not the curriculum.
Not the leadership. The cohort. Context matters. Judging schools by results, not progress, is the problem

This isn’t just about delay it’s about trust in a system. Can we rely on the results where they have rushed and scrabbled to get papers marked. In a system where results are inextricably tied to Ofsted grading this is utterly unacceptable schoolsweek.co.uk/sats-resul…

A career in school leadership—whether as a headteacher or in another senior role—is a vocation, but it is also a profession. While the work is essential, it should not demand personal sacrifice at the expense of our health or well-being. We are not obligated to break ourselves for the sake of our schools. It is entirely possible to lead effectively—with impact and integrity—without compromising our own sustainability.
