I have been reading as much as I can on what is happening in Poland right now, and...
It's complicated.
At a high level, it's pro-EU/globalist forces pitted against pro-Polish nationalist forces.
At the risk of grossly oversimplifying things, imagine an America where Donald Trump is President, Hakeem Jeffries is Speaker of the House, Chuck Schumer is the Majority Leader of the Senate, and Jeffries/Schumer just declared the US Supreme Court illegitimate, they sent the Capitol Police to surround the Supreme Court building, and the police are preventing the Chief Justice from entering the building.
That’s sort of what is going on in Poland as we speak.

Democrats began writing their talking points denying Trump's claims they stole the 2026 midterm election in Michigan ... in April.
Their biggest concern? How to deny claims by Trump they stole the election through allowing large-scale illegal immigrant voting, which is oddly specific.

In France the National Assembly is considering a bill to criminalize discussion of the Great Replacement while Socialists push to regularize 300,000 illegal migrants, and police are arresting the journalists filming the streets. In Britain a man was arrested at 4 a.m. for objecting to Palestinian flags and another for saying “Paki.” The governments still inside the Union are moving in the same direction on speech and borders. Whether the EU still exists in a year depends on how many of those governments survive the backlash.

Police déployée autour du Tribunal constitutionnel. Le vice-président de la Cour se voit refuser l’entrée. Le président de la République (Nawrocki) interrompt son voyage au Sénégal et rentre d’urgence. L’opposition parle de coup. Le gouvernement Tusk et ses alliés disent qu’ils « restaurent l’État de droit ».
Voici ce qu’il faut comprendre, clairement :
Depuis 2015, l’ancienne majorité conservatrice polonaise a nommé la plupart des juges du Tribunal constitutionnel. Cette Cour a plusieurs fois dit non à la primauté absolue du droit européen sur la Constitution polonaise. Elle a refusé que Bruxelles et la Cour de justice de l’UE puissent défaire les nominations et les règles nationales comme elles l’entendent.
Résultat : la Commission européenne et la Cour de justice de l’UE ont déclaré ce Tribunal « illégitime ». Pas parce qu’il serait corrompu dans le vide, mais parce qu’il refuse de s’effacer devant le droit de l’Union.
Depuis que Donald Tusk est au pouvoir, le gouvernement veut reprendre ou neutraliser cette Cour. Aujourd’hui, on envoie la police, on annonce des suspensions, on bloque les accès. Le message est simple : une Cour constitutionnelle qui ne se soumet pas à la primauté européenne n’a plus le droit d’exister en l’état.
Ce n’est pas un détail technique polonais. C’est le schéma qui se répète : un gouvernement très européiste + Bruxelles d’un côté, une institution nationale qui résiste de l’autre. Et quand la résistance devient trop gênante, on la traite d’illégitime et on la démonte.

Not one tariff reduced. Not one of the nine European holdout countries has ratified the trade agreement Canada already has with them. Barriers to Canadian beef and pork exports to Europe remain. And now the EU is threatening a carbon tariff on Canadian steel, aluminum, cement and other goods.
Worse, there was lots of talk at the summit about aligning Canada with the insane European taxes, debt, immigration and anti-oil and gas policies that have left parts of Europe bankrupt and burning.
