I love the unspoken societal norm of running to Twitter anytime a platform goes down #YouTubeDOWN .

This Kickstarter is crazy! We've already passed $80,000 in funding for my cozy fantasy book, Assassin in the Alehouse! And that passed the last stretch goal we had planned. So, we added a bunch more!
I'm so grateful!

Well intended beta reader just suggested I take out my properly placed emdash because AI uses a lot of emdashes. You will have to PRY THOSE OUT OF MY COLD, DEAD HANDS. I had to study to understand where they go, dangit! 😭

Pretty damned appreciative audience, too... though they don't say much.

Poe scraped together his last dollars to self-publish ‘Tamerlane,’ printing only 50 copies he couldn’t afford to promote.
You have a credit card and Print-on-Demand but won’t invest in your book because ‘what if it doesn’t sell?’

🚨 BREAKING: North Carolina House passes IRYNA'S LAW to end cashless bail, preventing release of violent offenders and closing loopholes, following the killing of Iryna Zarutska.
It is a VETO-PROOF majority. The Democrat governor can't successfully stop it!

The national media being more upset at Jimmy Kimmel losing his show than they are Charlie Kirk losing his life is kind of proving the point.

Guys it makes no sense DMing writers to advertise your writing services. Please stop.

Me talking about my book: “I hired a developmental editor, an artist for my cover, an artist for my maps, even paid some beta readers, and then finally got a proofreader (paid as well obviously)”
Them: “i just looked into the cost for all of those and I hope you sell a lot of books!”
Me: “Quality comes at a price 🤷🏻♂️😅”
Them: “good grief. Bye.” And unfollows.
🤣🤣🤣
This is what I did, because it’s what I believe is right and will get me the best result. I will do it again. And again.
Having more eyes on your work and hiring experts makes your work better. Period. Full stop. The end.

I have some incredibly exciting news! One of my stories is being published in a Sci-fi & Fantasy Anthology called Honor.
Honor is an exciting new anthology from Golden Griffin Press, featuring twenty-two SF&F authors. Really, this thing is going to be special.

I remember once when I was gov contracting for the agency I was working in a remote part of the Middle East. We had a boss who I couldn't stand, he had almost gotten us killed on multiple occasions, he couldn’t make a decision for the life of him, and overall was just a terrible leader. Everyone I worked with agreed and despised him.
One day after some detected surveillance which later became an engagement directly due to his leadership I looked at my counter part and said this:
“Honestly, if it wasn’t your job, would you save that piece of shit?”
He looked at me dead in the eyes and said:
“F*ck yes I would, that is a f*cking American.”
Then he got closer knowing where I was going with this and said in a stern voice:
“Wouldn’t you?”
It was at that point in time that I realized I was the piece of shit, not the person I was pointing my finger at. I knew that instant that I was a horrible representation of the flag that I wore on my chest and that I didn’t even deserve to be there. I immediately adjusted my attitude, but I felt ashamed for even having thought of not rendering aid or conducting combat to save another American simply because I did not agree with his decision making.
It is that exact sentiment that I see in this country today. Wishing the worst, death and beyond on another American because they think differently than you. A whole lot of finger pointing and not a lot of self reflection.
We all have blood on our hands at this point.
Every race
Every gender
Every religion, political party, sexual preference, nationality, and so on…
I don’t know what it’s going to take for the country to learn this lesson, but it is not going to get any better and continue getting worse until we all realize that we are all “f*cking Americans”.
Give yourself the room to say “You know what, I never thought of it like that, maybe I’m wrong about this one.”
Be like my counterpart was, not like I was. We’re all in this together and we’re all American whether you like it or not.
My counterpart’s name was Anthony Del Vecchio callsign “Devo”. He was a great American.

I continue this week with deep sense of my helplessness overall. I turned to reading Marcus Aurelius:
“If it is not right, do not do it, if it is not true, do not say it," and "Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one".

No I’m not going to talk about Charlie Kirk’s politics, I think that’s irrelevant to my points.
Why am I choosing to say something about this and not countless other tragedies? Because I don’t see fellow authors making memes and celebrating the deaths of those other people.🧵
