Seemed to me that Roger Scruton’s analysis of Rene Girard had a major flaw AI agreed:

Cardinal Cupich has misused Nostra Aetate to compromise Church teaching. The Second Vatican Council referred to abortion as a crime. The Jews call abortion a fundamental Jewish value. Cupich’s Nostra Aetate Award to Michael Sacks, who has shown his allegiance to that fundamental value, is a disgrace. Catholic-Jewish dialogue means chumminess with rich Jews in the hope of getting Jew money. It’s been a disaster for the Church and the world.

“But that perceiving directs itself toward a perceived or, speaking formally and generally, relates itself to it, is surely too self-evident for such a thing to need to receive special notice. Kant indeed says the same thing when he talks about the thing, the perceived, entering into relation with the cognitive faculty, with perceiving, when he talks about a subjective synthesis. Moreover, this expressly noticed relation of perceiving to the perceived also belongs to other modes of comportment: to mere representing, which relates to the represented, to thinking, which thinks the thought, to judgment, which determines something judged, to love, which relates to a beloved. These, one might think, are unsurpassable trivialities which one ought to shrink from pronouncing. Nevertheless, we shall not deny ourselves the explicit formulation of this discovery. Comportments relate to something: they are directed toward this whereto; or, in formal terms, they are related or referred to it. But what are we to make of this statement of the relation of the comportments to that to which they comport? Is this still philosophy at all? Whether it is or is not philosophy we may leave undecided. We may even admit that it is not or is not yet philosophy. Also, we are not really concerned as to what we are to make of the identification of the alleged trivialities, whether with them we shall or shall not be penetrating into the mysteries of the world and of the Dasein. The only thing we care about here is that this trivial identification and what is intended in it should not escape us—that we should perhaps bring it closer to us. Perhaps then the alleged triviality will turn into a total enigma. Perhaps this insignificance will become one of the most exciting problems for him who can philosophize, who has come to understand that what is taken for granted as being self-evident is the true and sole theme of philosophy.” - Basic Problems of Phenomenology by Martin Heidegger

It is not true, no matter how many times the lie is repeated. And the arguments for it are pure sophistry, as I showed in this article: edwardfeser.blogspot.com/202…
Trump on Iran: "We didn’t start the war with Iran. Iran started the war with us." Do you mind if I copy that line?

In 1980s 'fascist' Ireland, a man in his 20s with a decent job could buy a nice house and have 4or5 children while the wife stayed at home. Thankfully, we've 'progressed' since, and now with both parents working, they'll be mortgaged until they're 70 and lucky to have 1 child.

Europe is giving asylum and welfare to people who admit they killed a woman at sea on the way over there for being a "witch." Just think about this for a second.

“...it is always Others' desires which derive from vanity, for we are all under the impression that we desire more [genuinely] than Others.” — René Girard, ‘Deceit, Desire, and the Novel,’ ch. 1
“Desire is not mimetic only in mediocre individuals, those whom the existentialists, following Heidegger, branded as inauthentic, but in everybody without exception, even in those who appear the most authentic in our own eyes, namely ourselves.” — René Girard, ‘All Desire is a Desire for Being’ (ed. Cynthia L. Haven), ch. 1

“Being, in the traditional sense, absolute being, is something I don't have in me. I don't feel it. I feel my emptiness. But the Other always seems to have more of it than I have—unless, of course, the other surrenders to my desire, in which case being flees him very fast and I contaminate him with my nothingness.” — René Girard, CBC
“The object [of desire] is only a means of reaching the mediator. The desire is aimed at the mediator's being.” “All desire is a desire for being.” — René Girard

Straight out of George Orwell’s 1984 playbook. The spectre of perpetual war. A population kept permanently frightened. An endless state of emergency in which fear becomes the instrument of political control. How convenient for those who govern us.

An honest ‘student protester’ in France explains why he’s protesting. The question: “Why are you protesting?” He replies: “I don’t know. I’m just here to smash and destroy things.” But they just want a better education, you guys.

EMJ looks forward with hope and confidence to Europe's eventual return to its true form: the Catholic Church. "Remember the prodigal son, this is the prodigal daughter, the eldest daughter of the Church giving up on its revolutionary illusions and coming back to the form." "The form in Europe is the Catholic Church." "The form in Ireland, in Spain, in France is the Catholic Church. There would be no Europe without the Catholic Church!"

“[Individuals] borrow their desires from the Other in a movement which is so fundamental and primitive that they completely confuse it with the will to be Oneself.” — René Girard, ‘Deceit, Desire, and the Novel,’ ch. 1
“Mimetic desire is when our choice is not determined by the object itself, as we normally believe, but by another person. We imitate the other person, and this is what ‘mimetic’ means.” — René Girard, Conversations with René Girard (ed. Cynthia L. Haven @chaven), ch. 9
