Four big stories that could be coming out of tonight 1) the MAGA rural collapse is wide and deep. These are places that are living the direct pain of intentional decisions by Trump like tariffs and the war. Their sense of betrayal is acute. It’s also the case that rural America has never been as monolithic as the political narrative - which means that there are organizing opportunities ahead. 2) The Supreme Court and GOP have created conditions for a massive black voter surge across the Deep South with their attacks on voting rights. This will finally compel investments from Dems in that political infrastructure. It should also move investments from liberal philanthropy on policy work in places like MS and LA. 3) Latino voters are performing at a rate and with a preference that should make clear that this isn’t simply a “kitchen table” election. The terror these communities have experienced in this age of ICE has created a rights constituency amongst voters who largely stayed home in 2024 4) Corruption isn’t a side issue. Some of us have been shouting about things like banning stock trading in Congress and the White House for at least a decade. Dems and Repubs have failed on this - but the scale of greed in this White House and the lack of accountability in this Congress finally fired up the public outrage and imagination. With consequences. And thus Dems will have a runway for a transformational Ethics Agenda in the new Congress and in 2028.
i am a broken record on this but noting: @atlas_intel has @jamestalarico at 32% in rural texas. would be 8% more than beto and by far the biggest share of the rural vote by a statewide D in 7 elections (at least) #txlege #tx2026

Ich erwarte von der Bundesregierung, dass dies heute in Berlin zum Selensky-Besuch thematisiert wird.

Happy #ElectionDay! Just voted - I always take a moment to reflect on the privilege and responsibility to live in a country where we get to choose our own leaders. And this campaign season - dominated by pocket book issues - was once again a reminder that what happens globally impacts us locally - from global supply chains to the cost of gas and grocery prices impacted by conflicts overseas to concerns about infectious diseases landing at our doorstop. Stay tuned for @USGLC's election analysis on the impact on America's place in the world coming in just a few days.

"A GENUINELY TERRIBLE COVER STORY" @Channel5iveNews went to the island in Albania Ivanka Trump & Kushner claim they walked barefoot on and fell in love with - not only does it not match the description, it isn't even the island they made the deal for for a luxury resort, and it has no roads or power, or even a dock. Seems pretty clear they made a money-laundering deal with a known drug trafficker with the prime minister's blessing. Hence, hundreds of days of protests. Full: youtu.be/MM7QGccszUU?si=pNrK…

I am wondering whether China will commit this mistake. What could be its interest to appear as an imperialist power by joining this club ? If held, this summit would have one winner, Russia, crowned as a superpower against all evidence.
NEW: American, Chinese and Russian officials are discussing a possible summit between Donald Trump, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin later this month when the leaders attend the Apec summit in Shenzhen. with @AsiaLens @leahyjoseph: ft.com/content/73c1d1cc-6bb2…

This eyewitness account of the incident at a Ukranian mobilization location is an important read. In short, Russia may have provoked it, but even if that’s not true, the tensions around mobilization in Ukraine are real. Even so, that doesn’t mean Ukrainians want to surrender to Russia.
I was one of the only foreign journalists present at this evening's clash at the National Guard facility in a suburb outside Kyiv. Here's what you need to understand. Long and difficult thread.

There was no “Ukrainian torture center” - this was a fiction created by a fake medic who arrived driving a fake ambulance and who is linked to a well known Russian influence operation - and amplified by useful idiots and overt Russian assets… like yourself.

Today, I sent a letter putting New Jersey’s port and terminal operators on notice: importing Russian diesel violates federal law and could carry serious civil and criminal consequences. New Jersey will not stand by while Donald Trump supports Vladimir Putin at the expense of Americans. Instead of lowering costs, these imports help finance Putin’s war against Ukraine and a campaign of violence and terror that endangers our servicemembers abroad. As a Navy veteran, I cannot let that stand unchallenged. Our ports must not be complicit.

Of course, Poland’s constitutional crisis can be resolved very quickly: President Nawrocki only has to accept the Parliament’s choices for members of the Tribunal. As prescribed by the Constitution. Instead of blocking something he has no right to block.

To end its war against Ukraine, Russia has essentially demanded NATO’s withdrawal to the line of the Cold War, putting at risk 100 million Europeans from the Arctic to the Black Sea. Russia has not won its war in Ukraine. Do US negotiators want to entertain such Kremlin demands anyway?
The United States will mediate working-level negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi, advancing President Trump’s mission to end the war. Discussions will focus on post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts, and next steps toward peace. Additionally, American negotiators will meet this week in Brussels with representatives from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the EU, and NATO to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe’s post-war security architecture, and economic opportunities to support Ukraine’s reconstruction. We look forward to building on the progress made in Kyiv, Oslo, and St. Petersburg toward a comprehensive, durable peace agreement that delivers lasting security for generations to come.

Trump has disgraced our nation. We are not a predator or a conqueror. We are defenders of democracy and the rule of law. “Might makes right,” “spheres of influence,” “the law of the jungle” — that’s not America. Make America great again. Heed the better angels.
Trump refers to “our conquest of Venezuela,” I believe the first time he has called it that. “We take hundreds of billions of dollars of oil…Every single day, it’s coming in from Venezuela.”

What's unacceptable is how your campaign distorted this clip to make it appear that El-Sayed said something he clearly did not. You must be getting desperate.
