Their AI video tech is great, but doesn't need to be a Holodeck™. For over 30 years the term referred to a specific display technology, a sort of micro projector array lining the walls. Like the Vegas sphere, but individual.
In the original reference material, the authors describe a steerable light modulator tech enveloping a space in millions of "holographic pixels" that apparently send light beams directly into your each of your eyes. They added replicator tech on top to solve the physicality aspect, but "Holodeck" had specific meaning as a realistic future display goal.
This is from the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual, by Rick Sternbach and Michael Okuda.
These scenes were inspired by the old church of St. Thomas in Heptonstall, West Yorkshire, England. Built around 1260, it was expanded and modified several times until it was damaged by a storm in the 1800's. A new, larger cathedral was built nearby, while the remains of the old one were left in place. Another unique feature of the church is that the surrounding churchyard is entirely paved in headstones, as the increasing population density and value of the surrounding land made accommodating the residents within the cemetery grounds impossible.
I found this site during research of my great-great-grandfathers family in a nearby town. Tracing the records an additional twelve generations showed many of his ancestral lines led to Heptonstall, starting in the early 1500's.
None of this fits with the theme of my page, so I thought Halloween as good a day as any to share some of my gothic-themed work.
Coffee price over 5 years. Almost stabilized for a minute there. I now keep a 10lb buffer just in case.

I'm using @LumaLabsAI new #LumaDreamMachine video model to bring life and motion to this beach fashion series! I'll share some more thoughts soon on how all these Gen AI tools are developing, but for now I'm enjoying the opportunity to create more dramatic scenes. One may define an emotion for an AI image easily enough, but now the video prompt can define a *change* in emotion, so we are on our way to telling a story. In this case, I had a confrontational vibe between the characters in my original images, so I added a twist where where they make up in the end, giving a bright, positive vibe to these summer scenes.

Some early experiments with SD Motion. There's a lot of potential for animation, but a lot of limitations, currently. SD Motion produces short clips of 27 frames. Aspect ratio is locked to 16:9 (or cropped 576p). FPS is 6 interpolated to 30. No prompts for motion yet, so movement is random, picked from multiple gens. I roll one backward and another forward to make a longer continuous clip. Adding another dimension (time) is a massive jump in resource requirements, so keeping the generation time reasonable results in visible distortion. The results are interesting but I'll have to be patient until there is enough control for it to be creatively useful.
