Enormously grateful to @ICJ_Africa for the opportunity to speak in #Eswatini this weekend and to exchange with impressive lawyers working to uphold the rule of law. Lawyers continue their work in the face of fear, especially after the killing of Thulani Maseko in 2023. I share their concerns about the independence of judges and lawyers in the country and will be carefully monitoring the situation.
Lawyers must be free to work without intimidation, threats, or attacks.

1/2 🏨 From nursing homes to group homes, institutions are places where persons w/ #disabilities are forced to reside under the guise of “care”.
The reality is that institutions cause isolation & remove control that they should have over their own lives.
#DIguidelines

ALT A poster with text and accompanying illustrations of various institutions mentioned in the text. The text reads: What is an institution? It is a place where persons with disabilities are forced to live to supposedly receive "care" or "treatment", including nursing homes, group homes, treatment centers, long stay hospitals, special boarding schools
