The “the Tories must be obliterated and not allowed into Government again” Party are angry that the Tories won’t roll over and go into Government with them
Kemi today has doubled down that in an event of a Hung Parliament she WOULD NOT allow the Tories to support Reform to run the government. By defacto that means she would happily allow Labour, Lib and Greens to run the country. Let that sink in to anyone considering Tories

The Tories are proposing to build an integrated UK air and missile defence network. It’s long overdue. They did nothing about it in the 14 years they were in power.  Now they promise a £10 billion plan — but only over 10 years. So not exactly a rapid build out.  But better than the government. Which called missile defence a priority — then allocated under £800m over four years to it.  This despite the fact a Commons defence committee recently reported we have ‘next to nothing’ when it comes to missile defence. The Tory plan is to start with protection for critical infrastructure and military bases then build out to protect the UK mainland and British bases overseas.  A basic capability would be in place in a first Tory term, if there ever is one, with stockpiles and coverage expanded over the following five years.  A few of the pieces are already in place. Sky Sabre is mobile medium-range interceptor that’s already been deployed to Poland and the Middle East.  Type 45 destroyers carry Sea Viper interceptors for coastal and fleet defence.  RAF jets can be scrambled to take out drones and some missiles — though that’s expensive and they can’t deal with ballistic missiles.  But none of that comes anywhere near a standing national defence against longer-range ballistic missiles, the biggest threat. Nor do we have the necessary stocks of interceptors and counter-drone weapons.  Some media comment has likened the Tory plan to Israel’s fabled Iron Dome missile defence. But that’s misleading.  A truly national missile defence would cost a lot more than £10 billion. And Israel’s Iron Dome is much misunderstood. It is not one but three defensive systems for different missile threats.  The Iron Dome itself has been in operation since 2011 and takes out short-range rockets, artillery and some drones from the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah. Britain doesn’t face such a threat.  Then there’s David’s Sling which deals with mid-range missiles: cruise missiles, aircraft, drones and tactical ballistic missiles, out to roughly 100–300 km, with the hit-to-kill Stunner missile. And at the very top — most relevant to the UK but the least discussed here — is Arrow 2 and Arrow 3, sculpted by Israel Aerospace Industries, with US involvement.  This is the system that takes on medium- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles. Arrow 2 works inside the atmosphere; Arrow 3 intercepts outside it, above 100 km, at ranges out to about 2,400 km.  This should be of most interest to Britain. Because threats to us are much more likely to be from longer-range missiles.  It is significant, though apparently unnoticed by the Tories, that Germany signed up for Arrow 3 in 2023, the first time the Israelis have exported the system under licence.  The first deployment was made south of Berlin last December. A second site has been announced in Bavaria.  Germany is planning full operational readiness with sites in the north, centre and south of the country by 2030. Not in 10 years time, as the Tories envisage.  Just as significant, the cost of the first Arrow 3 deployment was under £3 billion. Total Arrow spend including interceptors and launchers will be under £5 billion.  Which rather makes it a mystery why nobody in Labour or the Tories is saying we should follow suit — buy off the shelf the most sophisticated, tried and tested missile defence system on the planet.  Germany will is acquiring Arrow 3 as part of the European Sky Shield Initiative. Which you’d think might appeal to Europhile Labour. The cost should appeal to the Tories.  At least the Tories have put missile defence on the agenda. Labour, it’s reported this morning in The Times, is still dithering about how to get defence spending to 3% of GDP — and looks like postponing the matter for another year.  In the current dangerous geopolitical climate that is close to a dereliction of duty which shames the Burnham government. You wonder how John Healey can even look at himself in the mirror

Right, let's knock this on the head now. If you're calling for the security services to release details about the identities of the suspects of an ongoing terror investigation less than 24 hours after the alleged attack, you're a moron. And you have no business even pretending to be a candidate for high public office.

The clear pattern is there to see now. The Conservative Party is the only party who can replace Labour at the next general election.

I’m ashamed he was ever in the Conservative Party. No one is thrilled by hecklers but members of Reform conference physically attacked a woman whilst she was restrained by security. You would think a previous Shadow Justice Secretary would know right from wrong.

Javier Milei claims to admire Margaret Thatcher but forgets this lesson: Britain does not surrender to bullies. If he wants a stronger Argentina, he should build its economy, not threaten others. But there’s also a lesson here for our sleepy Labour government. The madness of surrendering the Chagos Islands means other countries are now trying their luck. If we do not defend our own interests, whether on energy or territory, others will happily exploit that weakness.

I had Chris Hope down as one of the better GBNews journalists, but to use the lazy Farage phrase “you did nothing (on welfare) for 14 years” is schoolboy journalism. The Tories introduced Universal credit and the Two Child benefit cap to name but two major reforms. She was rightly applauded so maybe he needs to base his questions on facts rather than Reform rhetoric and he may get asked more often. I hope he was utterly embarrassed.
She's a class act isn't she. Totally unphased by what the journalist thinks is a gotcha question, she exposes his ignorance, asserts Conservative policy professionalism and trashes the other two main parties' welfare offerings all in less than 60 seconds.

It’s funny how Reformers accept that Suella, Jenrick, Anderson, Kruger et al have all “changed their ways” but steadfastly refuse to accept that Kemi Badenoch has turned the Conservatives around. Double standards from Nigel and his cult.
I agree with Kemi. A Reform/Tory coalition would be monstrous. The Tories committed national vandalism for 14 years.

What odds Pippa hasn’t actually read our @ukonward report? 10% of UK emissions come from energy generation. The other 90% (transport, home heat etc) need cheap electricity to be tackled. Our plan would deliver ~80% clean power by 2050 and save a third of a trillion pounds against current government plans. You can read it here: ukonward.com/wp-content/uplo… What’s your plan?
UK inflation, driven by 4-year-high gas prices. Tories' answer? More gas, scrap renewables — joining Trump and Iran as the only nations with no climate targets. Meanwhile, gas, heatwaves, wildfires and food shortages hammer people and the economy.

Kemi brought down the Labour Prime Minister, forced multiple u-turns by his government and has fought against the majority of the measures they have brought forward with her team since day one in opposition. But yeah, it helps Reform to encourage people to believe these lies because they aren’t doing all that much against Labour themselves - some even voted in favour of lifting the 2 child benefit cap!
Replying to @LucyTrims
Get back to being proper conservatives then and we won't try to discredit Tory BS. Your boss Badenough would rather cosy up with socialists, which tells me all I need to know about the direction you blue socialists are traveling.

Andy Burnham should approve Jackdaw and Rosebank. He should do it for the people of Aberdeen and hundreds of thousands more whose jobs and livelihoods depend on the North Sea. He should do it for the families across Britain struggling with rising energy costs. He should do it because energy security is national security. It’s time to get Britain drilling again.

There are no better trade partners for Canada than Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and there is no better place for diplomacy between these four nations than Vancouver. 🇨🇦🇦🇺🇳🇿🇬🇧 It's time for CANZUK deal.
With a new round of tariff threats from the US, a continued push for new trade partners is critical to our trading economy. A CANZUK deal would be good for Canada but could also make Vancouver a diplomatic hub. @CANZUK @CANZUKnews @CanzukTrade @canzuk4can

When a politician cuts a tax and then makes a big song and dance of the boost they are giving to whatever industry, such as Reeves today, it’s an admission that cutting tax boosts trade and thus growth. Why not cut taxes across the board then? Everywhere you can.

Kemi has already ruled this out no merger with Reform. And Farage has been clear since 2024: he wants to destroy the Conservatives. You can’t “unite” with someone whose entire strategy is your extinction.
NEW: A new well vetted party, ensuring it is right of centre. No wishy washy woke liberals. It is the only way we can ensure Labour and The Greens do not win the next General Election.

Labour was elected in July 2024 with an overriding promise to accelerate economic growth. We now now have its record for its first full calendar year, 2025: Q1: 0.7% Q2: 0.2% Q3: 0.1% Q4: 0.1% So, far from stimulating the economy, the dead hand of Starmer-Reeves has knocked the stuffing out of it. They took a good start to the year and squandered it with reckless tax, spend and borrow (none of which was in their manifesto). Our giant services sector — 2nd biggest in the world — is stagnating. Construction is in its worst state for over 4 years, with output down 2% in Q4 (which is why Labour’s promise of 1.5m new houses by 2029 is already broken). As for GDP per capita, which was very popular among X tweeters under the Tories but not so much now (I wonder why), it fell for the second quarter in a row — so we’re effectively in a GDP/capita recession.

Britain’s Defence Secretary can’t tell us if our government supports the strikes on Iran. The Labour government has already lost all support and all credibility. It now can’t answer simple questions. We are not being governed.
Watching our Defence Secretary refuse to say if our Govt supports the US/Israeli attacks on Iran is pathetic and embarrassing when so many other countries including Canada and Australia have declared unequivocal support for them. Do we back them or not? We’re entitled to know.
