Update: This "Super El Niño" will be perhaps the strongest in 500 to 1000 years, and could legitimately be the most extreme global weather or climate event experienced by humanity since the invention of the printing press. Only more extreme situation is a volcanic winter.

This morning, the editorial in @theadvocatebr highlights welcome progress in our state's insurance climate: “Let us cautiously cheer signs that the drastic, cascading property insurance crisis of the past few years may be easing.”
☑️ Premium increases have flattened significantly in 2026, following years of steep rises.
☑️ Only a few insurers are proposing rate increases this year, and a handful have filed for decreases.
☑️ As of June, the Citizens, the state-backed insurer of last resort, has seen a nearly 20% drop in its rolls as private carriers return and compete for business.
“Overall, it’s a little bit better. We can say things are improving, but I am certainly not satisfied where we are,” added @CommTemple.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱? This week, Commissioner Temple simplified the application process by only requiring eligible service members to submit the application form one time.
Commissioner Temple says he wants to see more service members take advantage of this significant discount. “The brave men and women serving our country dedicate themselves to protecting the very freedoms that make America great. This law recognizes their service by helping military members save on auto insurance."

Hopefully you have comprehensive coverage for your vehicle. This is the coverage that pays for damage to your vehicle if it gets flooded. Here are the immediate steps you need to take to protect your vehicle and your wallet:
🔹𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 right away to determine if you are covered, and if so, file a claim.
🔹𝗗𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲? You may have to pay a deductible.
🔹𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀: Save all correspondence (texts, emails, phone logs) with your insurance company or adjuster.
𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽? The LDI Office of Consumer Services can assist you if you have a question about your policy or just need information or help resolving an issue before you file an official complaint.

📃 Review your Policies: Know your deductibles and make sure you know how much money you will owe out of pocket if you need to file a claim.
📱 Document Your Property. Use your phone to take pictures of your property and belongings, including information like brand name and serial number.
🖊️ Make an Evacuation Plan. Have copies of your insurance policies and your agent’s contact information ready to go in case of an emergency evacuation.

Question: How can Texas fall behind Florida.
They both have no income taxes.
They both have right to work.
They both have school choice.

Florida is passing serious reforms to reduce the cost to every family of trial lawyers.
So is Georgia.
