I loved that episode of One Piece where the Straw Hats raid a small corner store and as the store owner is in Oda-style waterfall tears Luffy laughs and shit eating grins at him while Sanji kicks an entire display of women animu models and calls the owner a capitalist degenerate.

Yk I've always been curious why the Japanese defends copyright so much in situations where piracy is the only way to experience something not sold overseas.
Is it because Japanese companies treat their customers well so there's a level of brand loyalty? A lack of understanding on piracy as a whole? Or maybe most of them have never experienced wanting media from overseas and having no legal way to experience it?

If find yourself blindly supporting every student lead movement, you’ll be wrong very often, in many eras, on many issues.
A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue.

Student movements have not always been on the right side of history. Mao's student Red Guards persecuted hundreds of thousands. Students helped Castro and Khomeini rise to power, and Nazi student groups opposed the Weimar Republic.

The banks are online, the transactions are in the cloud. Manufacturing is less than 1/10th of their economy. This isn’t 1926.
This is what happens when you never update your phrasing because you’re just obsessed with LARPing instead of critically thinking.

Under communism, artists are forced into “productive” work to serve the state and the party. This is why you got great propaganda poster, murals, and sculptures and creative public aesthetics like East Berlin’s ampelmännchen. It doesn’t mean you get to do your own art.

There's an even funnier letter.
When Engels' wife died, Marx sent him a letter that barely acknowledged "Fred"'s loss in a single sentence before immediately jumping on to begging for money.
Engels got angry with him over it. 😆

You savages literally destroyed Africa.
Do you think centuries of brutal colonization can be undone in some decades?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Most sub-Saharan African countries experienced European colonial rule for decades following the 1880s Scramble for Africa, not centuries. Colonial powers built extensive railroads and infrastructure across the continent.
