Both top-shelf reporting and top officials in the Trump administration, including Trump himself, have said that Musk made this decision on his own. That would be treason. prospect.org/?p=146689

Most Data Centres being built now will become White Elephants. A "white elephant" is a vast building that is too expensive to complete or to maintain, providing little to no financial return. They are eventually abandoned because they're too expensive to repurpose or destroy.

Anduril… Palantir… why is the Tolkien estate not able to sue these sick companies to stop them bringing shame and disrepute upon a great author’s work?

There's going to be a lot of "white elephant" data centres - as the financing dries up and investors cut and run - some buildings half finished, some never turned on.

Three data centers near the New Mexico-Texas border will emit millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions once fully built. Because there's no single federal regulation governing emissions, regulators have largely considered their impacts separately. propublica.org/article/data-…

Sen. Susan Collins helped steer millions in federal defense contracts to Navatek, whose CEO illegally funneled thousands of dollars to her campaign. The FBI sought to launch a probe and was eyeing Collins and other lawmakers. Then Trump gutted the unit in charge. THREAD 🧵

> Scott’s “landmark AI bill” is supposed to be enforced for incidents that resulted in more than 50 deaths where AI was involved in the decision-making process. > Over 150 people died (120 children) in the Minab bombing, which Anthropic said their models were used in. > There’s no sign of any enforcement in this incident by Scott’s bill. > SB 53, the “Transparency in Frontier Artificial Intelligence Act”, does not require public incident-level reporting. And there’s no requirement for the government to provide records upon request. The public would never know if it’s actually enforced. > The bill also has a carveout for “lawful federal activity”. Like war. Or bombing a school. Scott’s AI transparency bill literally does nothing.

For decades, Democrats were too afraid to call out billionaires and the ruling class for buying our elections. This is welcome.
NEW AD: Have you seen these anti-Talarico attack ads? Elon Musk paid for nearly all of them. The world's first trillionaire knows if he drags the most corrupt politician in Texas across the finish line, Ken Paxton will owe him everything. @ElonMusk: Texas is not for sale.

AI boom has all but destroyed any climate progress in US.
I checked in on Net Power, which made two pivots within the last year. First, away from its proprietary oxy-combustion tech to regular CCS plants. Then, away from carbon capture altogether to deploy far dirtier reciprocating gas engines for data centers. heatmap.news/energy/net-powe…

🚨We have an affordability crisis because we have a @GOP corruption crisis. 'AI Ashley" votes with the corrupt lobbies supporting her. 💰💵 Angie will rein in Big Tech, so working class Floridians can thrive. 🗳️ FL, vote for Angie! 🇺🇸
Jack: Ashley Moody’s trying to brand you as a radical… Nixon: Her views are definitely radical because she voted to end health care for over 440,000 people here in the state alone, and millions across the country. She’s also radical because she stole $10 million from sick kids with the whole Florida Medicaid program. And so I shouldn’t be considered radical simply because I don’t want people to go bankrupt because they are, you know, going to the doctor. Medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcy in this country. People are literally going bankrupt because they’re trying to stay alive. That is not the type of country that I want to live in. And come November 3rd, I’m going to be up there with Senator Sanders, and we’re going to push back and change it.
