$60k/year was the salary that entry level workers in NYC deserved in 2019.
That was what was needed to live in a studio apartment and be minimally rent burdened.
Rent today is 36% higher than it was pre-COVID.
The cost of living is skyrocketing in New York City.
Rents are rising 7x faster than wages.
According to MIT, a living wage in New York City is above $60,000.
TA workers need a living wage. That's what we're fighting for at the bargaining table.
ALT No TA worker should earn less than a living wage of $60,000

My colleagues @TransAlt work so hard to make New York City a better place but too many of them do that work while struggling to make ends meet in the city they fight so hard for.
We’re asking TA management to come to the table with a livable wage for all TA workers.

As an author, I know how tirelessly the staff at publishing houses work and am all too aware our books would be nothing without them.
As a member of @TransAlt_Union @UAW2110, I stand in solidarity with my fellows at @HCPUnion as they strike for a living wage.

We are committed to making the Brooklyn Museum a stronger, more sustainable workplace🌱
But we are deeply disappointed by the Museum’s refusal to recognize our value to the Museum in first contract negotiations 🚩🚩
Why are we rallying tomorrow? 🧵

BREAKING: The Museum’s current wage offer fails to recognize our contribution as museum staff. Our union has been forced to file unfair labor practice charges against the Museum because of their refusal to bargain fairly.

The news is out! In an historic and nearly unanimous vote, we have authorized a strike.
ALT We voted YES to go on strike! HarperCollins workers deserve fair wages and better protections. Since the company won't take us seriously at the bargaining table, our membership has voted by an overwhelming majority of 99.5% in support of a one-day strike.
