Beamed across the country in every new @PRASA_Group X’troplis and online across the globe is the official @PrasaRail schematic Metrorail map. Somehow Alberton branch from Germiston which was cannibalised some 20yrs ago somehow makes a resurrection of sorts.
The most accurate schematics Metrorail map is on Wikipedia created by hobbyists & enthusiasts who glaze over every detail with unimaginable delight.
@Dotransport of course approves of said map based upon sound knowledge & judgment, who else would ask for a sign off?
This is based upon the rail network being intact prior to another of RSA shameful chapters.
Germiston-New Canada aka ‘Stompie’ travelled this industrial route. Hillview & Jupiter stations fail to appear on @googlemaps . Yet they are real, sort of….
As fate would have it I stood at uMhlanga Rocks terminus 20yrs ago in awe at the constant stream of @Go_Durban buses heading to all sorts of destinations mostly Gwala’s House whilst waiting for bus to town. Bus ride to town was the sweetest municipal bus ride I’d experienced!
It’s surprising how powerful it feels to have full vision of every bus stop & route & WHEN of an entire city! From real estate to best locations for outdoor advertising exposure. Seems endless
