Welcoming males into female spaces and sports excludes women and girls.
It is not inclusive and progressive.
It is oppressive, harmful and sometimes dangerous sex discrimination.
The ingredients for a safeguarding and medical scandal:
A group who are ideologically committed to a treatment model irrespective of the evidence
+
A climate of fear in which concerns are not just dismissed but attract accusations of transphobia
+
Institutions & individuals focused on protecting their own reputation rather than admitting to mistakes
Cases such as GIDS and now WellBN will continue to occur until these issues are addressed. And the problems in gender medicine extend far beyond paediatric services: adults deserve safe and effective care just as much as children.

This is what happens when you allow activists to run services and those raising legitimate concerns are demonised for not being kind. A cautionary tale for @WelshGovernment @WGHealthandCare @mabonapgwynfor @PrifWeinidog @RhunapIorwerth @AledapDafydd @DafyddTrystan @DeansOfCardiff
🚨Hilary Cass has called for an independent inquiry into how Brighton GPs were allowed to prescribe cross-sex hormones to children as young as 12.“There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, and indeed young adults has failed,” she told me.
The employment tribunal between Dr Sarah Redvers and NHS Sussex has highlighted how regulators and the NHS collectively failed to stop prescribing of puberty blockers and hormones against national guidelines - for years - and how instead the person raising concerns was accused of transphobia and herself investigated.
Dr Redvers sat down with me for her only newspaper interview about her treatment in a scandal which, Cass now says, “dwarfs” that of the Tavistock’s GIDS.

SHE DIED WAITING
Heather Earley, mother of three, has died waiting for her money. @PostOffice kept her waiting so long she ran out of time. Impressive logistics.
Lawyer @SimonMGoldberg (well worth to give him a follow) shared the sad news today.
Heather Earley was one of 555 postmasters who took the Post Office to the High Court and won, and she died before getting her redress, the money owed to put her life back together.
He points to a @BBCNews article from 2024 on victims who died before getting redress. Winning in court and never seeing the money is a rare talent.
Heather Earley was a mother of three who ran a local shop with a Post Office counter in Mossley, Newtownabbey, in Northern Ireland. In December 2013 the Horizon computer system said she was £10,000 short. A computer said so, and in the Post Office computers are never wrong..
She says one customer kept using a flaw in the system. Every time that customer withdrew £100, the system added £100 to the balance instead of taking it off. I wish my bank worked like that.
Heather Earley called the police, and the customer was prosecuted and convicted. That put the blame on the customer, and the Post Office still demanded the £10,000 from her, took money from her wages and refused to give it back even after the conviction. Crime solved, victim billed ...
She borrowed from family and maxed out three credit cards just to buy stock for the shop. She cashed in £50,000 of her pension to save the house and clear her debts. Her village lost its post office and its shop, a truly generous service to the community.
In 2019 the Post Office settled the group case for £57.75M. Around £46M went on legal and funding costs, which left roughly £20,000 for each of the 555 people. The judge, Mr Justice Peter Fraser, had said the Post Office at times acted as though it answered only to itself, and it seems to have taken that as a challenge.
Reports say at least 350 Horizon victims have died before their final payouts, so at this pace the scheme will finish the moment nobody is left to be paid.
Heather Earley wanted justice and enough money to rebuild what was left of her life. Simon Goldberg says the lawyers and other parties who held up and nickel and dimed her redress should feel nothing but shame, though shame does not appear to be billable. Stop fighting these people and pay them before it is too late.
Heather Earley never got her cheque.
RIP Heather

"If a man can be a woman, there is no such thing as a woman. That might not matter to you personally, but it matters to millions of women who don’t have the luxury of pretending that their sex doesn’t matter. I remain on their side."
Thank you, @jk_rowling, your voice has given me strength.
I wrote a new piece about women’s rights and whether or not I want trans people dead. (Spoiler: I don’t)👇

I’m begging you @WillHayCardiff
In case this is what you are doing - please don’t take the same approach to women’s rights.
The campaign to maintain single sex spaces draws support from across the spectrum & polling shows the population agrees. Not a culture war.
There was a debate in the Senedd tonight arguing against face coverings in public.
I think that it’s important to debate with people you disagree with and I believe that debate is almost always preferable to no-platforming. I also think it isn’t unreasonable to discuss the impact of religion on society.
However, I know from conversations within Reform that the leadership of the party are deliberately using the Senedd as a platform for sowing division, rather than seeking solutions. It’s also worth bearing in mind that the Senedd would have no power to ban face coverings anyway.
I therefore am not going to cover the ins and outs of what was discussed. It wasn’t a debate, it was a demonstration of how far the Overton window has shifted towards the reprehensible. I have no interest in driving that shift.
I will therefore leave with you with part of the contributions from Plaid MS Sioned Williams and Labour MS Huw Thomas.
Same goes for ‘gender affirming care’ - just because some Reform men who don’t understand/care about the issues have said irresponsible things does not mean there isn’t a serious discussion to be had.
Is it true @mabonapgwynfor - a *stab victim* had to attempt to drive herself to hospital because there was no ambulance?!
🚨 JUST IN: Carer stabbed to death at Bridgend retirement village as a man is arrested.
• Eleanor Barnfield, a 47-year-old mother of two and carer from North Cornelly, has died after being stabbed while working at the Ger-y-Nant retirement village in Bridgend, Wales on Monday.
• She managed to drive a short distance toward hospital before collapsing at the wheel and crashing into a wall.
• Paramedics found she had puncture wounds unrelated to the collision and she was taken to hospital, where she later died.
• A 61-year-old man from Bridgend has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
• South Wales Police described a significant operation at the site, involving armed officers, with residents temporarily evacuated.
So many commenters either haven’t read her essay, have reading comprehension problems or simply consider women to be support animals to men.
J.K. Rowling has published a new essay defending her views on the trans community and calling out trans activism in the 21st century for being "elitist."
"My views haven't changed... what to me represents no change at all in my political or ideological outlook has, in recent years, seen me and women like me subject not only to criticism but also to death threats. This is because we oppose the current, dominant strain of trans activism, which holds that a man who declares himself a woman is, literally, a woman, and is therefore entitled to be treated as a woman in all contexts..."

Replying to @DeansOfCardiff
@DeansOfCardiff
Not sure how much autonomy you have but this is interesting isn’t it? There are now two CPGs on women’s rights.
The difference between them is their definition of ‘woman’, alignment with the *law* - the level of Welsh establishment support.
We're saddened that any MS or party in Wales can say that the rights of women and girls do not align with their values.
nation.cymru/news/plaid-cymr…
This follows the NHS England confirmation - at last - that single sex spaces in hospitals are single *sex*.
Where is the Welsh public conversation about this? Are Welsh women entitled to female-only spaces and how can trans people also be accommodated?
This is not a hypothetical situation. If ‘Paula’ is taken to hospital again & needs admitting, does Plaid think he should be placed on a ward w/ women because he says he’s a woman? Please don’t be fobbed off with irresponsible ‘culture war’ deflections.

Any chance you could ask @WelshGovernment about this @BBCWalesNews ???
"We as a government are committed to act in accordance with the law and expect all public bodies to act in accordance with the law".
Well there you go health boards of Wales. What's stopping you? @Heledd_Plaid is telling you to pull your socks up and amend any unlawful policies that you still have. Women's rights are protected in law and men should not be in women's wards or women's single sex spaces at all.
We keep hearing that health boards are waiting for guidance from @WelshGovernment. Yet Welsh Government have amended their own policies 'on the quiet', and are making clear their expectation, while health boards are still exposed to financial and legal risk while they endlessly 'wait'.

Incredible how two married MSs, both experienced medical consultant doctors, made a similar ‘administrative’ error in showing support for single-sex spaces based on biological sex. Both have seen the error of their ways, Plaid says. Right.

This is an excellent letter to Bridget Phillipson.
As I said yesterday, it is clear that she hasn’t read her own Bill.
It is now a matter of urgency that she does so and understand just what a mess it is.
We agree with @bphillipsonMP, minister for women and equalities, that parents shouldn’t be prosecuted for having difficult conversations with their children.
But there is nothing on the face of the Conversion Practices Bill that protects them. We wrote to ask her to put that right.

These patients deserve properly tracked care, and without this info, how can any consent to treatment be deemed ‘informed’?
"information regarding the number of complaints [ref: adult gender clinics] received is not held centrally"
says Labour peer, Baroness Merron in response to a Levy review question from Conservative peer Baroness Maclean of Redditch.
2025 Levy review:
"The absence of any patient outcomes data, alongside limited and inconsistent quality data reporting, and minimal clinical audit makes it impossible to properly understand patient outcomes and the safety of these services. These gaps place these clinics outside standard NHS quality assurance expectations"
