I want to be like Jesus.
One of the reasons why everyone needs a testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Joseph Smith is that latter-day prophets show us who Jesus really is, what He is like, what He requires of us, and how He can help us.
Satan tempts you with money schemes because he does not want you to have means to care for yourself or others.
he tempts you with overeating to ruin your enjoyment of food.
he tempts you with s*x to get you to lose it.
Once you know how he works, every temptation is "nah."
"For when I am weak, then I am strong" - 1 Corinthians 12:10
The strongest people are those who can endure and overcome weakness. All people have weaknesses, but the ability and willingness to persevere and overcome difficult circumstances despite weakness is strength in Christ.
I needed this today.
Did you need this today too?
Jeremiah was sinking into the mud at the bottom of a cistern when Ebed-melech decided to intervene. Jerusalem's princes had accused the prophet of weakening the resolve of the soldiers and the people, and they had persuaded King Zedekiah to let them do whatever they wished with him. Their solution was to throw Jeremiah into a muddy pit and leave him there to die. The king offered no meaningful protection. But an Ethiopian servant in the king's household refused to stand by while another man suffered.
Ebed-melech went to the king and challenged the treatment of Jeremiah, declaring that the men had acted wickedly. He then gathered thirty men, obtained old clothes and rags to protect Jeremiah from the ropes, and helped pull the prophet to safety (Jeremiah 38:6–13). It is a brief episode, but it reveals something important about a man whose name most of us rarely encounter in scripture.
Ebed-melech could have remained silent. Jeremiah was unpopular, his message was unwelcome, and confronting the king on his behalf carried risk. Yet Ebed-melech recognized that what was happening was wrong, and he acted.
When Jesus described the final judgment, He taught that the King would welcome those who had fed the hungry, given drink to the thirsty, welcomed strangers, clothed the naked, and visited the sick and imprisoned. When the righteous asked when they had done these things for Him, the King answered, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40). Ebed-melech's actions illustrate this principle. He recognized the dignity of someone whom others had mistreated and used his position to help.
There is another detail worth noticing. Ebed-melech was an Ethiopian, a foreigner serving in the court of a king whose kingdom was on the verge of collapse. Jeremiah was a prophet of Israel, yet many of his own people had rejected him. In this moment, an outsider demonstrated a righteousness that the leaders of God's covenant people had failed to show. Like the Samaritan who cared for a wounded traveler and the Roman centurion who demonstrated faith, Ebed-melech reminds us that righteousness can appear where we might not expect it.
His story does not end with Jeremiah's rescue. Later, while Jerusalem was being conquered, the Lord sent Jeremiah to deliver a personal message to Ebed-melech. Because he had trusted in the Lord, he would be preserved when the city fell. The Lord declared, “I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord” (Jeremiah 39:18).
That final phrase is essential: “because thou hast put thy trust in me.” Ebed-melech's courage reflected a deeper allegiance to God. His faith was evident not merely in what he believed but in what he was willing to do when another person's life was at stake.
His example points us toward Jesus Christ. Throughout His mortal ministry, the Savior sought out those whom others rejected, healed the afflicted, and defended those condemned by the crowd. Ultimately, He gave His life to rescue us from sin and death, conditions from which we could not deliver ourselves. Our service cannot replace His Atonement, but as we come unto Christ, we can become more like Him. Ebed-melech did not simply feel sorry for Jeremiah; he approached the king, gathered the men and materials he needed, and carried out the rescue. His example reminds us that discipleship sometimes requires more than good intentions. It requires the courage to act.
We may never rescue a prophet from a cistern, but we will encounter moments when doing what is right requires us to speak up, take a risk, or help someone whom others have overlooked. Ebed-melech's name occupies only a few verses in the Old Testament, yet his story offers a lasting lesson: faith in God is revealed not only in what we profess but also in the choices we make when someone needs our help.

This makes me want to be an anti-Nephi-Lehi.
But seriously, let's get our ancestors' names prepared for the temple!
Elder John A. McCune, a member of the Utah Area Presidency, will preside at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lehi Utah Temple on Saturday, December 5, 2026. Preliminary construction has been underway at the 22.48-acre site, located northwest of the intersection of 3950 North and Center Street, for over the past year. A meetinghouse will share the property. It will be the eighth temple dedicated in Utah County. (Rendering: Intellectual Reserve, Inc.) #lehitemple #LehiUtahTemple

The resurrection is unbiblical, eh?
This sounds to me like one of the Roman soldiers that were paid off by the Pharisees to pretend the resurrection was a hoax.
“And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.” (1 Corinthians 15:17)
The difference between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (real Christianity) and fake Christianity is that the real Christ lives--today, in the flesh.
He rose from the dead.
He is embodied today.
Do you deny His universal gift of the resurrection?
Gaining and living.
This is everything.
If you aren't doing this, what are you doing with your life?
From Elder Rasband, speaking today at BYU’s Devotional—
“Let us train our minds until we DELIGHT in that which is good, lovely, and HOLY— seeking continually after that intelligence which will enable us eventually to build up Zion. We have a work on hand whose magnitude can hardly be told. (Brigham Young)
What is that mighty work? I think it’s partially the great restitution of all things. The ongoing restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I want to emphasize five things that are significant to the restoration. Each is a reason by itself, to shout Hurrah for Israel!
1. A Divine Visitation.
2. Prophetic Callings.
3. The Church of Jesus Christ
4. The Book of Mormon
5. Jesus Christ, the Chief Cornerstone
Nothing you do in your life will be more important than GAINING and LIVING your testimony of our Father in Heaven and His Son, our Lord and Savior. Their coming to earth to a young fourteen-year-old boy began this great restoration, and WE ARE TO CARRY IT FORWARD.
Reality is that the heavens opened. Reality is that God lives and teaches through His beloved Son. Reality is that they have bodies as we do, and that they KNOW OUR NAMES. Reality is that they speak to us through chosen PROPHETS.
By divine design, they (the six charter organizers of the Church who signed the official documents) were chosen by the Son of God. Months later, Joseph received a revelation describing the religion as the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth.
Take note, that it was Jesus Christ who said this to Joseph. Some take issue with that statement, caught up, perhaps, in the political correctness of all things being equal. But the words, ‘the only true and living church’ speak of the POWER to lay the foundation of the restoration, and to bring it forth out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
This true and living church has the FULNESS of the doctrine of Christ-- His priesthood power, ordinances and temples, prophets and apostles to teach His word, and the truths of the gospel that include the nature of God the Father, and our BOND to Jesus Christ.
Last winter at BYU, President Oaks taught: “God is RELENTLESS in His loving pursuit of each of you.”
I LOVE the word relentless. It means He never takes a break or pause in His loving pursuit to bring us home to Him.
He asks us to keep His commandments and be true to the COVENANTS found throughout the Book of Mormon.
Next year, we will host an Open House for the restored Salt Lake Temple—the House of the Lord.
The official theme for the historic six-month event is REJOICE IN CHRIST.
Bring your friends, neighbors, classmates... and ANYONE seeking a better life. This will be a mini World’s Fair, with new larger than life portraits of Jesus Christ, sculptures, musical performances, historical exhibitions, and tours of that historic temple.
EVERYTHING you see will be in celebration of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His truths, teachings, and His Holy House. Our charge is to SHARE the truths of the gospel with ALL.
Dear friends—brothers and sisters—as an apostle called of God, I leave with you today a blessing of personal revelation and guidance of the Holy Spirit to make critical choices with righteous intent... that your very life will reflect the greatness of THIS RESTORATION.
That you will honor the efforts of those who laid this foundation... that you will feel your Lord and Savior near... and that you will STAND WITH HIM as an example of all that is right, and good, and glorious in this Church.
I pray that you will proclaim with HOPE and FERVER as you serve the Lord time and time again.
Hurrah for Israel!”

A simple, very human reason never to give up on or shy away from becoming like our Heavenly Father and the Savior:
I cannot bear to give less than I have been given.
I have been given so much--everything!
How could I do less for my children?
This is how to keep freedom alive.
"The great principle of happiness consists in having a body" -Joseph Smith Jr.
All the philosophers from time immemorial have pondered and puzzled on the meaning of life and Joseph Smith hit the nail on the head because Jesus taught him Personally.
Publish the ledgers!
AUDIT ALERT: The governance structure of the @UtahGOP includes an independent Audit Committee that acts as the State Central Committee's (SCC) independent financial oversight body, reviewing the party’s books, conducting or overseeing audits, reporting findings, and ensuring fiscal accountability.
🚫 On June 7, 2026, the Audit Committee requested financial records of the party so that we could conduct the required internal audit. 142 Days later, party officers refuse to provide the requested records.
🐘 On Saturday, Chairman @RobertAxson assured the SCC that everything was in order with the party's use of the @USPS nonprofit mail permit (indicia). Axson completely ignored the outstanding request by the Audit Committee. And instead promoted his unquige "Black Box" spending structure for the party.
💰 That's not how it works! The fundamental role of an audit committee is "trust, but verify." A chairperson's word cannot replace line-item receipts, bank statements, and ledgers. The SCC and Audit Committee have a strict fiduciary duty to the party's donors and grassroots members to ensure money is spent exactly as authorized.
📫 If you are a member of the Utah @GOP, help resolve this standoff, demand that leadership produce the records for each political mailing so that we can substantiate the $207,992.19 total payments made by the party to the USPS (2026):
✅ Candidate, campaign, committee, or other requesting party.
✅ Name or position of the person who approved the mailing.
✅ Date the printer or mailing vendor received the order.
✅ Printing cost, postage cost, other direct costs, and total cost.
✅ Amount received from the candidate or campaign and date received.
✅ Amount, retained or transferred to the Party as a (10%) markup or other charge.
✅ Account from which each expense was paid.
🧮 AUDITS REQUIRE EVIDENCE NOT ASSURANCES!
People define freedom differently.
This is part of what makes it difficult to defend.
You can easily find examples of this.
