Afsar Safi entered the UK by small boat in 2021. He claimed that he was associated with the Taliban since he was a child himself. His application for asylum had been refused but he was appealing this when the assault took place.
His reason for assaulting a 7 year old was that it was culturally normal to kiss children where he was from.
He initially received 2.5 years for kidnap and sexual assault.
That is an appalling sentence.
On Friday, the Court of Appeal found it to be far too lenient and increased it….to 4 years.
He is likely to serve just half of that in prison and almost certainly will not be deported for “human rights” reasons.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to identify after a teenage boy was sexually assaulted at a Birmingham railway station.
British Transport Police said the incident happened at Longbridge railway station at around 8pm on Thursday, October 22. The 17-year-old boy was waiting for a train when he was approached by a man who began talking to him.
Police said that after a short while, the man exposed himself in front of the teenager before sexually assaulting him.

Four Police Scotland officers have been implicated in rape and sexual abuse cases this year, raising serious questions about vetting, accountability and the force’s handling of officers accused of violence against women.
Campbell Petrie, 50, was jailed for 15 years after being convicted of nine offences, including two rapes. The offences involved two women over a period spanning 2006 to 2022. Petrie had previously been arrested in 2009 following allegations of threatening behaviour towards one of his victims, but the case was dropped due to insufficient evidence. He went on to become a police sergeant before his offending was exposed.
Cameron Ross, 39, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of raping two women and subjecting a third to prolonged abuse. He was also found guilty of domestic abuse, threatening and abusive behaviour, and attempting to pervert the course of justice. Ross was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Carmichael John Williamson, 32, a Police Scotland constable with more than a decade of service, was convicted of three rapes involving a woman and a teenage girl. The offences took place between 2014 and 2022 and also included having sex with the girl while she was underage. Williamson has been suspended from duty and remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on December 8.
Alan Greer, 47, died by suicide in May after police searched his home during an investigation into serious sexual offences, including rape and attempted murder. The alleged offending spanned more than 14 years. Greer had joined Police Scotland in 2009 despite vetting staff being aware that he had been formally cautioned by the Metropolitan Police in 2005 over inappropriate telephone calls to a woman. He was also investigated in Glasgow in 2002 over similar allegations.
Police Scotland currently has 53 officers suspended while under criminal investigation. Of those, 26 are accused of domestic abuse related offences, nine are being investigated over sexual offences and two over stalking. Nearly 70% of the cases are linked to violence against women. All 53 officers remain suspended on full pay.

🚨 VICAR WHO ABUSED A THREE-YEAR-OLD GIRL JAILED FOR NINE YEARS
Gordon Newton, 40, a former Church of England clergyman who worked in Batley, West Yorkshire, has been jailed for nine years and seven months after admitting 12 offences, including six counts of sexually assaulting a girl under 13.
His crimes came to light when his wife handed an old mobile phone to police. Officers found 276 indecent images of children, including 70 in the most serious category. His browsing history also revealed a search suggesting an interest in images involving children younger than three.
Leeds Crown Court heard Newton had confessed to a sexual interest in children over a period of years. His offending devastated his wife, leaving her suffering depression and shattering her religious faith.
Judge Tom Bayliss condemned Newton’s “extremely wicked series of acts”, telling him: “You held yourself out as a man of God but you're nothing. You're a hypocrite.”
The judge said Newton had betrayed the child, his wife, parishioners and church authorities.
Newton, of Huddersfield, was placed on the sex offenders register for life and made subject to a sexual offences prevention order.

An Albanian fisherman who skippered a yacht from France to the UK with 17 migrants on board has been convicted.
Eno Gajda, 58, was investigated by the National Crime Agency following his arrest by Border Security Command (BSC) officers off the coast of Dorset on 27 August this year.
Gajda had sailed the 40ft yacht from Dielette, France, which was tracked on a course for the coast near Portland before being intercepted by BSC officers. They boarded the yacht and apprehended Gajda before escorting the vessel to Portland Marina Harbour, where the 16 Albanian men and one male minor were removed.
Gadja was charged with facilitating illegal immigration and pleaded guilty at Bournemouth Crown Court today (26 October).
He is due to be sentenced on 18 November.
