Mike Locksley’s IG video with the caption, “Thank You Maryland #TBIA”
I think this is a big part that some Terps fans miss on.
The McNair tragedy essentially demolished Maryland’s image in the DMV and nationwide.
It became an impossible situation to solve and overcome. Many coaches wouldn’t have touched this job with a 30 foot pole, locks came back because we were in dire need of healing and rebuilding.
No one expected anything, we thought the program was going lie down and die right there. Locks came in and was able to build some foundation with some good times, could just never conquer the mountain that was a signature win.
Was he a great coach? Did he win a lot?
No, let’s be frank here, he was not a saban like coach on the field. But the man would’ve died for it to happen, he is a good man with better intentions. The total package in a coach is few and far in between, if it weren’t everyone would be great in college football.
Hoping with this new era on the horizon, that Locks can stick around and continue to cheer on and help the place he loves from a different perspective. Just because he’s no longer the head coach doesn’t mean he can’t advocate for the Terps and still want Maryland to be great.
So, @CoachLocks thank you for all that you did, we know you love this place as much as we do. Don’t be a stranger 🐢
From ESPN's @CFBHeather, Michael Lockelsy isn't expecting to be a head coach again. He doesn't want that labor and is reportedly at peace with the change.
From ESPN:
This is the kind of kid I want here.
You committed to the University of Maryland, not Michael Locksley University.
Come put on for the school and reap the benefits of being loyal.
Can’t wait to see @CaldwellKyren dominate next year🐢

Maryland is asking me which of these 3 pics to use as my headshot. Please cast your vote for 1,2, or 3.
Hello @CoachDickert,
May I interest you in some crabcakes and football?
@JimmysSeafood some assistance?

A Thank You to the University of Maryland ❤️💛🐢
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to the University of Maryland, the entire football coaching staff, and all the Terps fans for the support, encouragement, and love shown to me throughout this journey.
To the coaching staff, thank you for believing in me, investing your time in me, I truly appreciate every conversation, every word of encouragement, and the relationships built along the way.
To the Terps fans, thank you for welcoming me, showing me love, and continuing to support me. Your passion for Maryland football does not go unnoticed, and I’m grateful for every one of you.
Thank you, Maryland, for everything. The love and respect will always remain. ❤️💛 @TerpsFootball @Terrapins247 @Insideblackgold @TurtleSportsNet
I will say this, @CoachLocks loves this place and really got us out of a dark place.
He just could never get that win, that one signature win, always fell short.
We all wish he would’ve been the guy, he just never got it done.
On to a new era, excitement is in the air.
Terps fans, we can rest now.
