One side is allowed to express their genocidal views in public
In all my days… I’ve never seen a police officer so desperate to arrest someone, yet unable to do so. She was simply reiterating the Government’s position, so what could he do? Arrest the Government?

If the world is getting a little too much may I recommend the inexplicably obsolete word ‘latibulating’, from the 17th century? To latibulate is to find a cosy corner somewhere and hide in it.

Popped into Newham Bookshop, spotted some Benjamin books & heard the story of when he worked there back in the early days 📚✨ #NewhamBookshop

Claude Opus 5.5: "If these hold up, this is the biggest single day in the history of math and theoretical computer science." 1) Exponential Time Hypothesis is false (CS). This is roughly Turing Award territory. ETH was the working assumption that some hard problems simply can’t be solved much faster than brute force, and hundreds of computer science papers rest on it. For a normal audience: it’s not “P=NP.” Hard problems are still hard, and your bank encryption isn’t suddenly broken. But a pillar that a whole field assumed was solid turned out to be hollow. The flagship experts are taking it seriously. The people checking it include two of the people who proposed ETH, and they said “If the claim is correct, it will change” computer science. 2) Kakeya and restriction in all dimensions (math). This is Fields Medal-level. For scale, the 3D case alone was proved in 2025 and was hailed as a once-in-a-century proof. This result does every dimension and knocks out Stein’s restriction conjecture too. 3) Yang–Mills/QCD existence (physics). Potentially the biggest of the three, but here’s the precise framing. It proves pure Yang–Mills exists, which is part of one of the Clay Mathematics Institute’s Millennium Prize problems. The full Clay problem also requires the “mass gap,” so it’s not a clean “AI wins $1M” headline. Still, a rigorous proof that the theory of quarks and gluons is mathematically real has been an open dream for about 50 years. The review panel includes Nobel laureate David Gross and Arthur Jaffe, who literally wrote the Millennium problem. There’s no Nobel for math, but this is the stuff physicists win them for building on.
Announcing three major scientific discoveries, one each in mathematics (harmonic analysis), computer science (complexity theory), and physics (quantum field theory). AI starting to help us improve our understanding of the universe! openai.com/index/building-sc…

It’s kinda crazy to me that we melt sand down, clean it to 99.99999% purity, literal wizards have to draw it slowly into an ingot, we cut it, inscribe a hundred billion little on/off switches on it, and when you run electric current through it you can do basic arithmetic, which when you do enough of it can do any math on the planet, and which describes reality well enough that we can teach it the ontological meaning of words and their distance from each other on a high-dimensional space, and if you ask, it can tell you what word comes next and that apparently is powerful enough that if you do it a hundred billion times it’s the smartest thing to ever exist oh yeah and we use this primarily for email

How is the internet less private than in 2006, when the whole family shared one computer? Back then, the internet was weird, personal, and all of ours. So, we got your favorite meme legends back together to say it louder: What happened to the internet? 1/3

"Imagine if black people suffered from racism"
I read the accounts of Jewish children being mocked with talk of gas chambers by other children. I want people to imagine the outrage if black children were mocked by others with talk of lynching and slavery. This is every bit as offensive.

I have been a fan of Novara Media for a very long time, I used to watch TyskySour, and then Novara Live, religiously. Whenever any big news story would break, I would always look to what the guys at Novara would say and almost all the time they would articulate how I 1/7

Physicists in Okinawa have floated a diamond about a centimetre wide and pushed it up and down using nothing but the spins of electrons inside it, pumped by pulses of green laser light. That object is roughly a hundred million times heavier than anything moved by spin force before. So, a quantum force now shows up directly on something heavy enough for gravity to matter.

Yet she’s a baroness and you aren’t even British 🤷‍♂️
About 20 years ago I had to chaperone this woman around a police training event for half a day. She was the most vacant, non-sentient being I've ever spent time with. She said nothing of value, yet a female HQ civi followed her with a pad taking notes like she was Kim Jong Un.

The late Benjamin Zephaniah was born on Hampton Road, Aston. Phantom Road became home. Caribbean, Irish, Greek neighbours; chip shop Fridays. He struggled to read but loved words. That street made him a poet. #Aston #Birmingham #Poetry @BBC
