It was only a few years ago when DJI had to buy from FLIR because they dominated the market. chinese thermal imagers have absolutely flooded the market with the same resolution for 1/6th the price and on demand ☠️
DJI is mass rolling out 1280 x 1024 thermal imaging for its Mavic-sized drones while American 640 x 480 imagers are on 6+ mo lead times This should be a MASSIVE wake up call to the Western industrial base, fire alarms should be ringing.

What is an Airprox and why haven't the @UK_CAA and @DefenceHQ seen the safety implications of British journalists choosing to misuse the data for clicks?

Here we go again, AIRPROX being abused, I might have to OFCOM this one as it's getting tedious now. The @UK_CAA and @DefenceHQ MAA need a disclaimer on the AIRPROX dataset as safety is not being served with the press misuse of the data.

I'm not sure this report has aired on TV yet, but the RAF misreport was aired just over a week since, so a complaint is now in for that:

About a year ago Norway's Prime Minister & his guards mistook a passenger plane for a drone. Unlike their Danish counterparts they didn't shoot at it and were honest about the mistake. This story warns as the nights get darker we might see a repeat. dronemag.no/er-hostjakten-pa…

Oh wow, I missed this, the DANISH MILITARY have been caught out in documents knowing they shot at the same time a @FlyWideroe passenger plane flew over Borris Camp but they changed the time in their report. Report by @MadsJuulN of Radio IIII. #CoverUp radio4.dk/nyheder/dokument-a…

One good comment to the UK Online Safety Act consultation: age verification mandates are exposing UK Internet users to unbelievable levels of opsec and identity theft risk, drive people to the dark web, and could be abused by future govts. From: an actual software developer

This is what it feels like when the BBC cover drones & aren't aware a malicious drone isn't lit up like a helicopter. To be fair, members of the cyber community had already called Joe out on the hysterical coverage of AI weeks ago.

This BAE TRV-150 nicely demonstrates how relatively slow & easy to film large multirotor drones are, they're also lit up like Christmas trees on EO/IR, readily detected on radar and acoustic too. As you'd imagine it's not covered in lights! 😉

A reminder though you can share airspace without a UTM, drones are quite capable of deconflicting themselves from each other. Trouble is no one makes millions from that so it's always deliberately overlooked as a solution.
Wing, Manna and Lancashire Fire Service drones share the same airspace above Chorley in the first demonstration of a federated UTM operation in the UK

I've no idea how we ended up with a story of the RAF encountering drones, both reports note UKAB was involved, both record the matters were closed & there was no evidence of a drone. ADS-B showed there were distant civilian aircraft which likely wasn't even assessed for mis-id.

What's clear here too is the pilots are involved in the UKAB process, I seem to recall from the Lakenheath saga, that it can be a back & fourth process. "Upon reflection" suggests how events are perceived at the time can change in the pilot's mind thinking over events.

Members of the Danish military, now have journalists in their "sights" for criticism of Danish troops for presenting a less than credible story about the shooting at Borris Camp. Shooting at the sky when an aircraft is overhead deserves scrutiny.

I received this from an AIRPROX expert on the objects UKAB deemed were NOT drones but ended up in the British newspapers presented otherwise. "God help us if there is a shooting war" being the final words. #RAF #DASOR

Lucky people in Denmark with a sub to @frihedsbrevet can read @andreaslmunk's latest piece on the drone farce. Judging by the snippet this is poking fun at the "my dog ate my homework" level of excuses from the Danish military about shooting at planes! frihedsbrevet.dk/kan-i-ikke-…
