Remembering Jerry Garcia, who was born on August 1, 1942, in San Francisco and co-founded the Grateful Dead in 1965. Garcia was renowned for his musical and technical ability, particularly his ability to play a variety of instruments and sustain long improvisations. He played with the Grateful Dead for the entire 30 years that they were together. In 1994, Garcia, along with the Grateful Dead, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Garcia died in 1995 of a heart attack just days after his 53rd birthday.
