Why do our YECs matter? We know that educators already have their 🍽️s full. Our YECs go into schools around the province to work with students to develop school-based initiatives to promote health outcomes. At UpLift, we are helping to build the capacity for healthy schools. 🏫

Through an #UpLiftNS Student Action Grant and the help of one of our Youth Engagement Coordinators, the leadership team at Chester Area Middle School worked across grades to engage their peers and create a new learning space filled with new furniture and a beautiful mural. 🥳

Our province cares about the health of its youth. Through our advisory and working committees, UpLift brings together key players from @nsgov, health and education to set joint goals, strengthen relationships and coordinate the delivery of health-promoting initiatives in schools.

Through an #UpLiftNS Student Action Grant, we helped Pine Ridge Middle School build a fully accessible school garden using mobi-mats! This student-led initiative helps students learn about creating inclusive, accessible spaces while developing independence and leadership skills.

❤️🤸Healthy children grow out of health-promoting environments. Working in schools across Nova Scotia, we are helping schools create spaces where healthy choices are easy!
