One of the more fascinating developments over the past 9-12 months has been the reversal of relative valuation metrics between public and private markets in the #nuclear reactor space. Venture Capital, coming off big wins in AI is throwing money at hard tech aggressively and that’s leading to very lofty pre-money valuations for micro reactors. A year ago public market valuations were trading at very high premiums to private comps. That has completely reversed and public nuclear tech companies now trade at major discounts to private rounds. You can buy $XE @xenergynuclear at a $2B valuation net of cash with great backers (Amazon, Dow, Energy NW, AEP, Centrica), a developed orderbook with sites and on the cusp of an NRC construction license. However, half the VCs in the market are trying to pitch me an earlier stage microreactor company with a much smaller TAM at $5B pre-money… not sure if the VCs or public markets are right but they can’t both be… ill take public market liquidity at a discount over an illiquid VC hype story anyday… #uranium
