Here is my submission for the UTEP jersey contest.
I’ve always liked the idea of UTEP putting El Paso on their jersey, and I also wanted to include something that pays homage to the roots of the community.

After stopping Canutillo deep in their own territory, Chapin gives it right back after a three and out that ended in a failed fake punt. That led to a David Rivas 20 yard touchdown run. XP no good. A rain delay caused some earl chaos on both sides, and the state ranked Eagles led by only seven going into the half.

UTEP redshirt senior guard Reese Miller (6-foot-5), a Round Rock, Texas native, spoke with the media today.
Miller was the leading scorer at William & Mary last season (12.1 points per game). He is going to be a significant contributor to the backcourt this year.

A new face for UTEP men's basketball!
UTEP forward Ivan Perasovic (6-foot-8) is a Croatia native, who spoke with the media today.
He has six seasons of professional experience in the Adriatic League (ABA) with KK Split (2020-22, 2025-26) and Cibona (2022-25). He appeared in 115 total games during that span, scoring 502 points and grabbing 265 rebounds while shooting better than 50% from the field (198-of-389).
Perasovic represented Croatia at the 2018 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup.
His father, Velimir Perasovic, was a member of the silver medal-winning 1992 Croatian Olympic team that faced the USA Dream Team in the gold-medal game, playing alongside Toni Kukoc and Drazen Petrovic, and also won the 1990 FIBA World Cup with Yugoslavia alongside Vlade Divac.
The 24-year-old freshman has been cleared by the NCAA and will be a contributor for this year's squad.

UTEP sophomore point guard Leif Moeller (6-foot-7) averaged 10.8 points, 4.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 32.4 minutes at Evansville last year, while ranking second in the Missouri Valley Conference in assists and seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Moeller shot 40.5% from the field and 36.6% from three-point range, scored in double figures 15 times and recorded two double-doubles.
We caught up with him before practice today.

The UIL approved a mandated 35-second shot clock for basketball starting in 2028-29 school year for 6A and 5A, with other classes to adopt it in following years. 6A and 5A schools would have the option to use it in the 2027-28 school year.

Final: San Jose State 24 - UTEP 11
Third-year UTEP coach Scotty Walden is now 6-25 in El Paso after Saturday’s loss to San Jose State.
The Miners have gone 3-9, 2-10 and 1-6 under Walden and own just one FBS win (at Sam Houston, Oct. 15, 2025) in the past year-plus.
Their only 2026 victory remains a 51-10 win over FCS Texas Southern.
Despite outgaining SJSU in yards, Miners fall, once again, at home.
