Jason Eck went to go make sure his players weren’t celebrating the turnover while still being down by 3 in the 4th.
UTEP dances on the sidelines when they’re down by 21 in the 4th.
We are so unserious man it’s embarrassing

Miners were 1-9 going into the game and it was very rainy that night

Final: San Jose State 24 - UTEP 11
Third-year UTEP coach Scotty Walden is now 6-25 in El Paso after Saturday’s loss to San Jose State.
The Miners have gone 3-9, 2-10 and 1-6 under Walden and own just one FBS win (at Sam Houston, Oct. 15, 2025) in the past year-plus.
Their only 2026 victory remains a 51-10 win over FCS Texas Southern.
Despite outgaining SJSU in yards, Miners fall, once again, at home.

That's wild, and think of all the teams and bad seasons over that time period... The people have spoken. This should not be the sentiment during the 1st year of a new conference. Senter is so bad at his job, but he got a pass because he rode the 'MWC" coattail. Wilson failed by extending him. BB needs to be our savior.

UTEP leadership keeps asking El Paso to support the football program. Perhaps it's time for the athletic department to demonstrate its commitment to building a winning one.
Declining attendance and fan enthusiasm should be a wake-up call, not an excuse to question fan loyalty.
Why is UTEP administration so quick to defend the status quo rather than explain its plan for improvement?
Nobody questions Scotty Walden's work ethic or the dedication of our student-athletes. But hard work isn't a strategy, and patience isn't progress.
Instead of repeatedly asking fans to "trust the process," give us five things:
A roadmap: Measurable goals for the next 12–24 months.
Accountability: An honest evaluation of what's failing and how it will be fixed.
Recruiting strategy: A clear plan for competing in the NIL and transfer portal era.
Financial transparency: Where does UTEP stand against its peers, and what's needed to compete?
Progress reports: Regular updates showing results, setbacks, and adjustments.
The Mike Price era proved El Paso will show up when it believes in the program.
Dwindling attendance is a confidence problem.
Our student-athletes deserve support, but they also deserve leadership committed to delivering results.
Stop asking El Paso to blindly trust the process. Show us the plan, measure the progress, and give fans a reason to believe again.
"You gotta believe" remember that one? What happened to the EPMAD- and Senter having fan round tables?
UTEP Athletic Director Jim Senter joined us on SportsTalk today...
Here are some takeaways/quotes from his thoughts on UTEP football @stevekaplowitz
"Scotty Walden is working as hard as he can. Our job is support this coaching staff. Nobody is harder on Scotty Walden than Scotty Walden. You just don't quit on people. It's really easy for us to be critical... The good people bear down and find out how to get out of the rut. We're going to back them and support them."
Cited the difficulty of the schedule for UTEP football in non-conference play:
"When we get in Mountain West play, we expect to play a lot more competitive. (New Mexico) put it to us. Maybe we're still smarting from that."
"We will do everything to support Scotty Walden, our coaches and our student-athletes. Nobody has more vested interested in winning than (student-athletes)."
"My heart breaks for them when it's not going well. I do see the behind the scenes that they are putting in. Come out here and support these (student athletes) as if they were your kids. These student athletes need this more than everything right now because it's honorable for them to be in the game."
"They want to make El Paso proud of them and what they do."
"When fans are there, it makes a difference with recruiting."

My son put a little song together that pretty sums up what it feels like to be a Miner fan right now.

Offense couldn’t stay in a rhythm is hilarious
UTEP head coach Scotty Walden after losing 30-13:
"I thought the effort was good, I thought we came ready to play. I really didn't focus on the game itself until I see the film. Offensively, we couldn't stay in the rhythm on offense. We're going to have to look at the tape and get better."
"When I look at the film, we got to make some adjustments on where that 3rd quarter got out of hand."
