I know that MinerDigs is missed, so I created a free forum for all UTEP fans and decided to give it the same name. There are no bells and whistles, but my goal is to give all UTEP diehards a place to comunicate with each other. Here's the link:

UTEP Athletic Director Jim Senter joined us on SportsTalk today...
Here are some takeaways/quotes from his thoughts on UTEP football @stevekaplowitz
"Scotty Walden is working as hard as he can. Our job is support this coaching staff. Nobody is harder on Scotty Walden than Scotty Walden. You just don't quit on people. It's really easy for us to be critical... The good people bear down and find out how to get out of the rut. We're going to back them and support them."
Cited the difficulty of the schedule for UTEP football in non-conference play:
"When we get in Mountain West play, we expect to play a lot more competitive. (New Mexico) put it to us. Maybe we're still smarting from that."
"We will do everything to support Scotty Walden, our coaches and our student-athletes. Nobody has more vested interested in winning than (student-athletes)."
"My heart breaks for them when it's not going well. I do see the behind the scenes that they are putting in. Come out here and support these (student athletes) as if they were your kids. These student athletes need this more than everything right now because it's honorable for them to be in the game."
"They want to make El Paso proud of them and what they do."
"When fans are there, it makes a difference with recruiting."

Perhaps the most absurd UTEP football stat I found last night: the Miners have never won a home game against an FBS team while Donald Trump was president.
They’re 0-23 over his two separate terms 🤯

44 years ago today, Pat Summerall and John Madden called a Division-III college football game.
Wittenberg vs. Baldwin-Wallace
October 3, 1982
During the fall of '82, in the second week of the NFLPA's 57-day players' strike, CBS needed to get creative with its Sunday afternoon programming.
So on October 3, the network sent its top NFL broadcast team of Pat Summerall and John Madden to Springfield, Ohio to call Division-III Wittenberg's game against its rival Baldwin-Wallace — each school with an enrollment then of about 2,000 students.
Three other NFL on CBS broadcast teams were also assigned to call Division-III games that weekend.
Wittenberg, Baldwin-Wallace, and the Ohio Athletic Conference were each paid $10,000 for the game.
The video includes the CBS open and pregame introduction by Pat and John, the first several minutes of the game, and select highlights from this historic CBS broadcast.
A very rare and fascinating telecast — and quite a thrill for those players, coaches, students, and communities.

MinerTalk: UTEP football disappointed in their Mountain West opener at New Mexico, getting blown out, 61-7.
With uncertainty around QB EJ Colson (didn’t return in the 2nd half), the Miners reeling at 1-4, can they pick themselves up as they look toward a winnable two-game home stretch?
