Poverty & discrimination hit hardest in tough times — and in Canada, the most vulnerable always pay the heaviest price. We can look away… or we can act.
At the @SappaniFdn, we choose action. We help BIPOC girls in Canada break cycles of poverty through education.
In our 5th year, we’ve partnered with @CNIB to create an annual award for BIPOC girls with vision loss pursuing post-secondary dreams.
Meet our 2025 recipient: Keerthana Kelly

And yet all you MAGA PP conservatives do Blanket racism towards all immigrants . And you guys were pioneers of it . Driven by racism more than immigration
A new poll on immigration from the Environics Institute finds that first-generation Canadians and non-white Canadians have stronger opinions against immigration than white Canadians and third-generation+ Canadians.
63% of first-generation Canadians and 60% of non-white Canadians think too many immigrants are not adopting Canadian values.
57% of first-generation Canadians and 54% of non-white Canadians think that many refugee claimants are fake.

Canada legalized cannabis and youth cannabis crimes dropped 50–60%!
Canada’s Cannabis Act aimed to reduce youth cannabis-related criminalization.
•We assessed all Canadian police-reported youth offenses, 2015–2021.
•A time series approach evaluated pre- and post-legalization youth crime trends.
•Legalization was associated with 50–60% decrease in youth cannabis crimes.
•No evidence of associations between legalization and property or violent crimes.

Amazing ! That calls for a visit !
Replying to @Tate
@Tate has announced it has acquired 50 artworks from 18thC and 19thC India, gifted by the art historian Charles Greig. A highlight is Johan Zoffany’s 1784 portrait of Prince Jawan Bakht, one of three portraits of Indian sitters by Zoffany in UK public collections @DalrympleWill
Data proves it: Hindus and Jews are the highest-earning, lowest-crime, highest-education, lowest-social-assistance, and highest-charitable diasporas in the world. Their success also attracts racism and attacks, partly fueled by Islamists, Khalistanis, and a communist-leftist nexus.

What a beautiful video.
A mother and calf fell into a water tank. Both were rescued but during rescue the calf got separated from mother. Kurseong division staff brilliantly tracked the mother. It took 7 hours but they reunited them.

NEW from me:
Last year, Mark Carney set a goal to double Canada's non-US exports by 2035. Today, he's already halfway there
In response to Trump's tariffs & threats, Canadian businesses, consumers, & even tourists are taking difficult steps to decouple from the US🧵
A good analysis that applies to politicians all over the world .
Here is my take on the B.C. election: What a political earthquake!
David Eby called an election two years early, hoping for a bigger mandate. He had a majority government. The Conservatives were divided and in turmoil.
He went looking for a bigger mandate and came back without a government.
Nine years of NDP rule. OVER. And perhaps that is the best political news Alberta conservatives could have hoped for: the possibility of a new partner across the Rockies, ready to build rather than block.
But beyond the political drama, there is a lesson every government in Canada should take VERY seriously.
You cannot govern on yesterday’s victories while people struggle with today’s problems.
Families are worried about paying their bills. Parents want a family doctor. Young people wonder if they’ll ever afford a home. Workers want good jobs and a future worth working for.
Meanwhile, politicians can spend months fighting over issues that barely make the kitchen-table conversation.
And then election night arrives.
Voters have a remarkable way of reminding politicians who actually works for whom.
People aren’t asking for miracles. They are asking for results.
Make life affordable. Fix what isn’t working. Build things. Create opportunity. Keep communities safe. Respect taxpayers.
And above all, never confuse winning a political argument with improving someone’s life.
That’s a lesson for B.C., Alberta, Ottawa and every government in this country.
Elections are won with promises. Trust is earned with results. And governments fall when they forget the difference.
Perhaps we’re witnessing the beginning of the end of an era of NDP governments in Western Canada. I certainly hope so.
For those of us frustrated by the NDP’s record on affordability, economic growth and natural resource development, this result is significant.
But here comes the twist, Premier Danielle Smith may have just gained something Alberta has wanted for years: a potential partner across the Rockies who sees energy development as an opportunity rather than an obstacle.
In my mind, Alberta just became one of the biggest winners in an election where Albertans didn’t cast a single ballot.
Imagine Alberta and B.C. working together to build pipelines, develop our natural resources, attract billions in investment and create good-paying jobs instead of fighting over them.
And my hope is that Canada enters a new era defined less by political division, endless arguments and missed opportunities, and more by what we can actually build together.
Because the future doesn’t belong to those who are best at arguing about it. It belongs to those willing to build it.
History has a funny way of reminding politicians that nothing lasts forever. Not power. Not popularity. And certainly not the patience of voters.
That’s my honest take!
A perfect example of Conservatives winning by adapting immigrant values of fiscal conservative, tough on crime, progressive inclusive policies . There is lesson for Trump , PP here . You can’t be racist and accept to be voted in.
Indo- Canadians and Chinese Canadians overwhelmingly voted for Lorne to form a conservative majority govt that a generation has not seen .
Amazing news @LDoerkson please make India a top priority visit and let India know BC is open for business . India is top 5 export market for BC and can become number 1/2 once we can get the pipelines .
B.C.’s premier-designate says supporting new pipeline is first order of business ctvnews.ca/vancouver/article…
And you ask why grocery prices are high. Crime is high in Canada and people know they can get away with it—every single time. @MarkJCarney Corporations to SMEs are tired of lawlessness and unprecedented crime. Crack down on every single one of them and deport anyone who is not a citizen.

The MAGA party in BC was called One BC.
They got 1.5 percent of the vote. Likely higher than Trump would get.
The best thing to happen is the election of @LDoerkson as BC premier . Build the pipelines , let’s get oil and gas to Asia . India is looking at $50B to canada if we can deliver to their ports !

Thanks Ben. Like you I'm really into civic matters.
Spend an ER shift with me. Or MSF mission with me in Congo. Afterwards, your mind goes upstream.
To be factual, ER docs are a vocal bunch. We see the best and the worst of everything. We have a lot to say with good reason.
As for the machine, yup. I got one. Great kid, amazing wife. I have a fire in me (like you) for a better city, province, nation and world.
So yes I do radio, newspaper, Twitter and full time ER. I walk the dog a lot, listening to medical CME and commentators. At the gym I listen to medicine only.
I had wicked training, wicked teachers and always fire in the maw.
You and I disagree on policy up and down but we're engaged in something more than our own family or our own tribe.
Let's disagree Ben and maybe agree time to time - and desire a better nation.
I know that's what your family stands by and that's why I respect your family's contribution to the nation.
That's not being polite, that's being honest. @BenMulroney
👇🏽 listen to true Canadian conservatives . Don’t let the noise distract you . All the racist extreme noise on X are simply noise and mostly Russian Chinese bots .
Virtually all of the slopulist right "influencers" in Canada were on Team One BC, which won 1% of the vote.
They set their hair on fire when the BC Conservatives decided to stabilize themselves as a mainstream centre-right party at the beginning of the campaign.
As with the Alberta referendum, this is yet more evidence that these so-called influencers have no influence, and should be broadly ignored by sensible, principled Canadian conservatives.
Two great Canadians in one frame ❤️
Ran into this fella in Toronto at the Albany Club!
He was presenting on the West. Me, at another event, on terrorism. We agreed a mashup wouldn’t be a good thing.
In his book, Think Big (get it!), the final chapter is entitled “The Scout.” In his post political career he has held to that commitment, venturing to new terrain and reporting back on what lies ahead. And it inspired me to do the same in mine. Thank you Preston Manning, for everything. See you again soon.

Inhaled CBD slashes lung tumor growth!
The results of the experiment demonstrated that inhalant CBD had a significant inhibitory effect on lung cancer progression.
Treatment with inhalant CBD resulted in a decreased rate of tumor growth compared to the placebo group.
CBD treatment led to the suppressed expression of the CD44 marker, suggesting a reduction in the cancer stem cell population within the tumor.
The expression of the crucial angiogenic factors VEGF and P-selectin was suppressed in the CBD-treated group, indicating an impairment of the tumor's ability to create new blood vessels.
