Most of you know me through Value Added Resource. What you may not know is that Iāve built VAR alongside a full-time day job. That company is winding down at the end of the year, so Iām deciding what I want to take on next.
Over nearly 20 years in ecommerce, Iāve gone from customer service to running operations for an Amazon business with 1.8 million products, helped take a brick-and-mortar retailer online and turned an underused eBay liquidation account into a $2M+ sales channel.
I launched VAR because I saw a gap in how marketplaces were being covered in the media and decided to build what I thought was missing.
Since then, Iāve handled the site, newsletter, social and pretty much everything else behind VAR myself. My reporting draws on seller reports, policy changes, court filings, earnings disclosures and industry relationships to spot stories, patterns and connections that donāt show up in press releases.
Iām keeping the possibilities fairly open and donāt have a particular title in mind. If any of that makes you think āLiz would be weirdly good for ___,ā my DMs are open.

Thanks to $GME and Ryan Cohen, $EBAY has shifted their focus to live commerce big time! They even said recently it is their fastest growing segment after they completely avoided it and let it rot for years while WhatNot ate their lunch. When GameStop first bought eBay stock it was in the $80 range. The stock has moved 50% since then. GameStop is now the largest shareholder of eBay.

$EBAY has responded to questions about its latest layoffs in a statement to Value Added Resource, saying cuts are intended to align teams & resources with its "top strategic priorities."
No additional details provided on affected roles, locations or whether jobs will be moved elsewhere.

The layoff news is not entirely surprising, I noticed some interesting changes in eBay's career's page last month which at the time I noted could signal job cuts were on the way. š§

JUST IN: Police have confirmed more than 200 packages filled with PSA-graded cards valued at nearly $1 million were stolen from a FedEx truck.
Value is expected to rise as more packages are investigated.

EBay has a similar problem in their āauthenticationā system which sends a card valued at more than $250 to an address that isnāt hard to figure out. This PSA issue and this EBay authentication address issue is a āgrowing problemā I.e. the more popular sports cards becomes, the more crooks will target the industry. Need to be vigilant and protect the consumers better.

PSA officially confirms the theft of graded items from a āthird-party shipping vehicle.ā
They say all certs for the stolen items have been deactivated.
They will not say how many cards or how much $.

eBay is updating its privacy policy globally on November 26, 2026, adding more detailed disclosures about automated monitoring of listings & other user content, AI training on customer data, & automated decisions that could affect seller accounts.

Thanks for sharing the list. Every cert on it is now in the @CheckCOA fraud database as stolen, plus the ones affected collectors are sending me.
@PSAcard deactivated them, but ādeactivatedā alone doesnāt tell a buyer why. Now anyone who scans one of these certs sees it came from the FedEx truck theft, with a note to contact PSA.
If one of your cards was in that truck and isnāt on the list, send me the cert number and Iāll add it.
