Starmer’s EU-UK Defence ‘deal’ means accepting EU policy in exchange for false industrial promises. Bad for democracy. Help us to expose this sell-out.

Starmer’s EU Defence ‘deal’ will mean accepting EU policy in exchange for vague industrial promises. It undermines UK democratic decision-making. The Conservative Party tried to place essentially the same deal into EU exit arrangements in 2018, but public outrage led to a change.

I don’t want to post the video. You’ve all seen it. But I do want to write a love letter… Dear everyone in Britain, ( even you illegals) Just so you understand. The poppy is for the boys who never got to grow old. For the boys who were still somebody’s baby, brother, uncle or father. More than 600,000 of them. It doesn’t matter if you support war, hate your country, think you are a woman (even though you are a man). It doesn’t matter which God you pray to, or if you pray to none at all. It doesn’t matter who you vote for, what climate narrative you believe, or whether you believe Israel should exist or not! The poppy isn’t for you! It’s for those who came before. Those who fought for your right to be weird, annoying or even foreign. The poppy is how we say thank you. Thank you for giving us time, peace and choice. And attempting to ban our poppy by declaring it politically divisive isn’t a move towards freedom. It is an act of suppression. Understand that. The poppy is about love and loss. For you! So stick your rainbow flags and every other flag where the sun doesn’t shine and just wear your poppy. Those boys did not die as symbols. They died for you! Did you know that poppies grew across the battlefields where so many fell? As though even the land refused to forget the blood once given to defend it. So the poppy is for them. For those who came before us and paid in youth, in hope, in breath, in blood, so that we might have the freedom to be arseholes. So that we might even have the freedom to fight over the ridiculous, the inconsequential and the insane. Revere it, celebrate it and wear it. The very least you can do is that. Best The ordinary people.

A country cannot survive if it targets the leader of its bravest defenders. We don’t know how lucky we are to have the SAS - because they don’t tell us how many lives they save or how dangerous the work they do. The rot runs very deep.
EXCLUSIVE: The commanding officer of the SAS was placed under criminal investigation and referred to prosecutors over anti-ISIS mission in Syria. Unprecedented move concerned police request for classified evidence, but effort to charge him collapsed thetimes.com/uk/defence/arti…

This is essential information. The EU and sadly the UK have been bankrolling Russian arms factories by buying Russian oil and gas. Sometimes directly sometimes via intermediaries but it’s the same effect. It must change.

How far the Telegraph has fallen. The newspaper posits the surrender of UK trade policy and an integrated EU-UK nuclear deterrent – and manages to phrase this as a trade-off rather than the biggest-ever double surrender of UK self-governance.

It should be regarded as treason for British politicians to pretend to negotiate in the British interest but in reality to sell us out to the EU and cost us £20 billion along the way - this EU Reset is a total disgrace youtu.be/uET-xONTW-0?is=Xokb…

I think we are in a very serious situation indeed, with direct echoes of the build up to the Ukraine invasion - the CIA is directly warning Putin and we have no Russian Ambassador to Britain. I think Britain is likely to be attacked, probably through a proxy. How serious that attack might be will become clear. Whilst I fully support aiding the robust defence of Ukraine and clearly Putin was very wrong to invade, supplying aggressive weapons and technology able to strike deep inside Russia is of a different order and crosses a line. NATO is rightly a defensive alliance. It seems the weaker our defences and smaller our army, the more bellicose is the military talk. Idiotic parallels to ‘appeasement’ just display historical ignorance (Ukraine fought for Hitler by the way - as Stalin was starving them) and lack of understanding of the deeper issues. ‘Oh What a Lovely War’ is a better parallel and the tragedy of how nations were pulled mechanically into World War One. We are pitifully unprepared for any global conflict now after decades of cutting our armed forces; worse comparatively than under Chamberlain in the 1930s. An economic crisis is very close. We are sleepwalking into a major war and need to wake up fast as to its full implications and costs.
🚨 Ratcliffe may have flown to Moscow to personally warn Putin against attacking Europe The purpose of the CIA director’s surprise visit has still not been officially disclosed. However, the WSJ notes that U.S. intelligence obtained information suggesting that Russia may be preparing for another mobilization and planning to test NATO’s resolve. One former U.S. intelligence official suggested that Ratcliffe may have personally delivered a warning to Putin: “We know what you’re planning to do. Don’t.” Ratcliffe spent around four hours in Moscow. The U.S. Air Force plane that brought him to the Russian capital has already departed Vnukovo. The last time a CIA director visited Moscow was in 2021, when William Burns warned Putin against invading Ukraine.

The EU is ignoring the Russian fuel ban and paying billions to Moscow. Very unhelpful actions by the EU. They are funding the wrong side. When will the BBC and the rest of our largely pro-EU media in the UK start reporting this? euobserver.com/231924/banned…

Today Labour’s Gibraltar surrender deal - announced today with no debate - has once again undermined British sovereignty, repeating the mistakes of the Windsor Framework and the Chagos debacle. The terms of the deal are shocking: Spanish officials will now conduct border checks within Gibraltar. Spain can withdraw individuals’ residency in Gibraltar, even if they already live there. Goods sold in Gibraltar must comply with EU regulations. Gibraltar is now subject to a new ‘transaction tax’ to align it with the EU. And Gibraltar must adopt new EU laws or the agreement will automatically be terminated. The practical effect is that foreign officials will decide who and what can enter British territory. British citizens’ fingerprints will be taken and passports checked within our own territory. At the same time, Spain has conceded nothing about its claim to Gibraltar. No self-respecting British government should be willing to accept this. To make matters worse, Parliament and the British public have only seen the final text of this deal today, but it takes effect tomorrow. Labour have shut us out of this process and are avoiding scrutiny. A Reform Government will stand up for our national interest and overturn this one-sided, disgraceful deal. There can be no shared sovereignty between Britain and Spain. Gibraltar is British, not Spanish, and that is how it must remain. This is not up for negotiation or dilution by a thousand individual concessions. And there must be no border between Gibraltar and the United Kingdom. Spanish or EU border and customs officials must not be allowed to operate in Gibraltar, or have a say in who and what can enter our territory. Border security cannot be built on conceding control to a foreign government. gov.uk/government/collection…

It’s actually worse it’s not just border checks British citizens are now subject to Schengen restrictions of 3 months, so we can no longer stay in our own territory for more than 90 days, however, EU nationals are now free to enter and remain with no restrictions! Gibraltar is no longer a sovereign British territory.

Why does the EU continue to support Putin?
Europe has handed Vladimir Putin a €6bn (£5bn) boost this year after buying a record amount of gas from a key Siberian plant. Russia’s Yamal export hub sent 136 tankers of liquefied natural gas to European buyers in the first half of this year, with the largest volumes going to France, Belgium and Spain ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

We must not hinder economic growth by embarking on an expensive reset with the EU. The people voted for Brexit. The consensus is the UK should remain outside the EU.

It’s just another MP who doesn’t understand the basics. We’re not allowed to ‘back British industry’ through ‘changes to Whitehall’ and ‘procurement’. The last Conservative Government ensured that their UK-EU trade deal bans domestic advantage which other countries use routinely.

Sounds great until they realise the last Government rewrote UK defence procurement law to mimic EU law - even placing a line of EU treaty text in UK statute. Mimicking EU law makes it difficult to create UK-limited contract competitions.
Exclusive: Ministers will use national security exemptions to ensure that billions of pounds of additional funding for defence is spent in Britain rather than given to American or European companies John Healey, the defence secretary, will use a speech at the GMB union’s congress to announce plans to favour British-based companies He will add that if a defence contract is “sent overseas”, the industry will be required to create jobs in the UK, describing the approach as “unashamedly pro-Britain”. He will say: “The government will develop a new approach that looks to give credit in future defence contract decisions to British-based companies based on a genuine, substantive presence in Britain and long-term commitments to British communities and British supply chains. “As part of this drive, I can announce I will make greater use of national security exemptions for defence contracts — which allow the government to require certain capabilities to be built in Britain — supporting our UK industrial base and your members’ jobs. “We will ensure that, in large defence contracts, there are provisions to require any significant sub-contracts to be placed with UK-based companies, or guarantee competitions so UK competitors aren’t shut out.” thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…
