(The "evolutionary biology" in question consists of a few studies that I and my friends posted on Heartiste comments sections in 2010 or 2011 and which you didn't read or misunderstand...this RE yet another overused and empty talking point)

“Why yes that’s how my maxilla has always looked”
a couple weeks ago I posted about how bone grows into titanium implants because cells can't find the boundary turns out there's a catch engineers have been trying to solve for years: titanium is too stiff (~110 GPa vs spongy bone's 0.02–3.7 GPa) so the metal takes all the load, and the real bone around it actually weakens because physics says "why maintain structure that isn't carrying stress?" (stress shielding) enter selective laser melted Zn-1Mg-0.1Sr gyroid scaffolds: → mathematically generated TPMS gyroid lattice (70% porous, 550 μm pores) → elastic modulus tuned right down to 2.3 GPa so it flexes like real cancellous bone → alloying zinc with 1% Mg + 0.1% Sr precipitates Mg2Zn11 & SrZn13 intermetallics, more than doubling strength over pure zinc (33.7 MPa) → degrades at 0.36 mm/year with zero hydrogen gas pockets and the wildest part as it dissolves, it turns its own surface into calcium-phosphate & zinc-phosphate minerals while feeding Zn2+ and Sr2+ ions that make bone-forming cells grow faster titanium tricks the skeleton into adopting permanent metal this thing holds the load, feeds the bone to rebuild itself, and vanishes when the job is done. radical engineering.

Surely creating trade relationships with Afghanistan to support manufacturing employment there will keep more people in Afghanistan instead of coming here as economic migrants?
Looking into the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation and we appear to be importing used cooking oil from Taliban run Afghanistan to make biodiesel.

One thing I've noticed is that people are blind to infrastructure. In this image, you see a well-maintained road, even with pedestrian infrastructure, neatly clipped grass, a powerline, almost no trash etc. yet the person thinks it's Nigeria because the houses are shabby.
Zoomed into a random small town in Brazil. This is how it looks. Only marginally better than towns in Nigeria.

In 1948, George Kennan, senior US diplomat and State Department strategist, planned on negotiating with the USSR for a mutual disestablishment of Germany’s occupation zones and establishment of a neutral and unified Germany. Kennan was anxious to wind down the war mobilisation of US society and economy, which he feared would entrench if European containment of the USSR required a continued US occupation of Germany. Britain and France were horrified by Kennan’s plan for a reconstituted Germany, and so in mid-1949 they conspired to leak these plans and spun it as an “appeasement of Communism”, thereby scuppering the proposal before it was even put to Stalin. This was the moment in which Britain and France forced the reluctant US to vassalise Western Europe. This was the trade off for preventing their continental rival Germany from rising whole from the ashes again, and having their anti-Soviet deterrence subsidised by continued US military presence in Western Europe. Britain and France chose vassalage in 1949.

Ruling elites exercising their agency to choose vassalage doesn’t make a nation any less of a vassal than other nations that were coerced into vassalage. Often choosing vassalage is indeed a rational choice rooted in material realities and limitations.

People talking about the Gulf as if it’s held hostage by Washington don’t actually understand the Gulf. Saudi Arabia expelled Canada’s ambassador, froze trade, and pulled thousands of students out of Canadian universities in 2018, over a tweet about human rights. In 2016, the UN blacklisted the Saudi-led coalition for killing children in Yemen. Within 72 hours, KSA called US president. threatened to pull funding, half a billion dollars, and threatened to pull other Arab states out of the UN entirely. The Secretary-General & US President caved and removed them from the list himself, called it one of the most painful decisions of his career. In Oct 2022 Riyadh pushed a two-million-barrel OPEC cut through weeks before theAmerican midterms, with Biden lobbying personally and then promising consequences. Nothing happened. They kept Russia inside OPEC+, took the BRICS invitation, and normalised with Tehran in Beijing, deliberately, with the Americans informed afterwards. Qatar was blockaded for 4 years and Trump was calling it a terrorist state, it got handed thirteen demands including shutting Al Jazeera and the Turkish base. It refused all thirteen, went on hosting Hamas political office, and outlasted the blockade.. None of that is what a hostage looks like. The reserves sit in dollar assets because the dollar is the deepest market on earth.. The security relationship exists because these monarchies calculated, for decades, that buying deterrence was cheaper than building a real independent military, one that could also turn around and remove them from power. That’s a trade they chose, and they’ve had the leverage to walk away from it this whole time. Calling it a prison does something worse than getting the facts wrong. It erases their agency in a way that actually flatters them, makes every choice look forced instead of deliberate. The real critique is that these rulers chose a trade that protected their own thrones and kept a stability in their countries at the cost of real strategic independence They chose this. They can leave and they donot. Dependence you select, pay for and renewevery year is a policy.

Can the family behind Türkiye’s drone revolution engineer a culture of innovation? In Kasurian’s latest Autumn 2026 essay, The Bayraktar Complex, Selim Baş explores the family whose ambitions now extend from military aircraft to the institutions shaping Türkiye’s technological future. Raised on the workshop floor by an engineer father and a computer-programmer mother, the Bayraktar brothers inherited a conviction that technical competence was essential to national sovereignty. Their outlook grew in an Anatolian Muslim milieu where faith, industrial production, and political independence were closely intertwined. Baykar’s drones would make that ambition tangible. From Ukraine to Karabakh, their battlefield performance brought the family international recognition and helped transform Türkiye from a buyer of foreign weapons into a major supplier. The family is now attempting to give the education they inherited an institutional form. Through schools, science centres, investment funds, and the vast Teknofest competitions, the Bayraktars are creating opportunities for young people to build, experiment, and enter technical professions. Their ambition reaches beyond training engineers. It seeks to make technological achievement part of Türkiye’s public culture, giving scientific and industrial work a place in the country’s understanding of its future. Whether this project succeeds will depend on the institutions it builds: their ability to cultivate talent, sustain technical judgement, and turn one family's achievements into opportunities for a wider society. Bonfire Night celebrations are returning to Feniscowles & Pleasington War Memorial Ground on Friday 6 November, for the first time since 2023. I’m pleased to have worked with the local community to help bring the event back, working with the ground’s trustees, with fireworks, live music and food stalls planned. The event will support Feni Rec UK’s campaign to raise over £150,000 for a new playground, with every penny of profit going towards the project. Tickets must be booked in advance. No tickets will be available at the gate. Book here: zeffy.com/en-GB/ticketing/fe… Volunteers are needed on the night and for Saturday morning’s clean-up. Please get involved! To help, message Paul on 07732 574622. Businesses interested in sponsorship or financial support to help revive this traditional events in Blackburn's local communities can contact my office. Let’s come together to support this great local event and also to help deliver a new playground for local children.

Brazil’s economic future lies in being China’s hedge against US-controlled commodities supply chains, to which end China has invested in massive coast-to-coast commodity transport infrastructure and furnished cheap capital goods for commodity production in Brazil. A Bolsonaro win kills this strategy, and will ensure Brazil’s subordination and integration into US commodity supply chains during this age of US imperial retreat and hemispheric consolidation. In the neo-Monroe Doctrine, Brazil is a threat to the US Midwest farmer voter base who must be kept afloat at any and all cost.
BREAKING: Lula overtakes Bolsonaro in Brazil's presidential election odds, now favored to hold on to power. 70% chance. 🔗 polymarket.com/r/Brazil26

Trads wax lyrical about how Old Islamicate cultures are a spiritual safeguard, absent which the path to degeneracy is inevitable. But these same Old Islamicate cultures have zero safeguards against moral degeneracies like siblings usurping rightful inheritances, the heinousness of which brings God’s wrath upon that society. I would much prefer a cultural trade off where God’s wrath is not incurred for usurping the rights of others.
