To clarify, not to be taken out of context: North Macedonia is indeed a drastic illustration of the undermining potential of discretionary use of individual vetoes on EU accession; as well as of EU promises not met, when candidate countries deliver, hurting EU’s credibility.
@Dimitrov_Nikola explains that North Macedonia is a more drastic example of how not to do it when it comes to #EU enlargements because politicians publicly declared that it is a mistake to trust the EU. However, other countries can use this experience to manage expectations.
