#WhatsApp and #Instagram both offline right now.
How does this keep happening?
A peripheral WatchChat mention is still a mention, right? 😅
The story: The #FlickType developer sues #Apple. It's indicated that they have intentionally stomped the company's value to make a potential acquisition cheaper for them

My two favorite objections to this bill.
People have no idea how totally fake App Store star ratings can be, or how easily scammers buy them in bulk every day.
Apple's lobbyists must have studied the playbook of the fake reviews on their own platforms. The "public" commentary on the Arizona bill to grant devs protection from App Store extortion/retaliation is 🤯. These identical comments just go on for days. apps.azleg.gov/RequestToSpea…

I’m getting the impression Kosta is going to keep this up until Apple does something meaningful. I kept giving up after a few days of making noise about scam apps. Kosta has been at it for 12 days now and it’s only gaining steam. 👏🏻
"Kosta wrote another detailed thread on how scams abuse the App Store rating system. And at the heart of his concerns: ensuring the validity of apps’ information – in this case the feedback from users – so it’s really something consumers can trust."

Scammer doubling down on his scheme. What comes next - claiming I've hacked into the App Store and altered their screenshots? Nah buddy that ship has sailed, you can deny it all you want, won't change what happened.
Remember yesterday's "app went offline" tweet?
Their app is back. They aren't blocking features anymore BUT:
The ratings are still there. So what can we make of that?
1) Rob a bank
2) Say sorry
3) Keep the cash.
Apple doesn't mind.

"Eleftheriou's exposure of the rampant App Store scheme has led many more developers and critics to share their own experiences and hopefully put pressure on Apple to tighten up its app moderation and consider overhauling its billing interface and options"

One scammer's app is not available on the App Store anymore!
How much did this save unsuspecting users?
Over 3 months, this app racked up $70k in annual subscriptions that would've been charged again starting in 4 months for the semi-annual, 10 months for the annual (1/X)
subscription! This is AT LEAST $70k every year users would've been charged again for this scam!
Never would I celebrate a developer's app being taken down - but it's a total fraud.
Now, this battle is not won just yet.
See this prime example screenshot of another scam (2/X)
there is still some work to do. I also found another app popping up 2 days ago that already smells a bit fishy but I won't report anything that I'm not 99.99% certain to be a scam.
Join us on our fight against other scammers, this has a long way to go:

A user after they had learned the hard way that you have to completely reset your #AppleWatch to get #WatchConnectivity #WCSession back working for all third-party apps.
Next year, my bug radar on this will be half a decade old. I put $500 on Apple still not fixing it this year

The irony about this whole fake review thing is that reviews were put in place precisely to protect consumers *from* scammers – now they serve them!
Apple refuses to take down two scam apps that destroy my honest business via fake ratings and false marketing claims.
I have hard proof yet Apple ignores my numerous reports.
#Apple, please do something.
This is my story.
