I think we’re going to see a lot of stranded compute in partially complete data centers
Snagged an iPhone Duo. It’s basically an iPad Mini I can fold up and put in my pocket. Good first impression.

DI is the best way to formalize a procedure or abstraction (one of the only research practices that reproduces in education)
Main criticism of it is that kids don't develop any independent thinking skills and that it's quite boring for the student, so they're unmotivated
Play-based approaches have the opposite criticism. They don't generate measurable gains, but kids love it and are highly engaged
There's no evidence base for combining the two and creating studies that generate evidence for the combination in a way that generalizes will be incredibly difficult
tl;dr, this is our perspective not a fact (facts are very hard to come by in education), and we'll just pressure test it by how happy kids are and how much progress they make academically
I was quoted in a @nytimes article on @Alphaschool. I’d like to clarify, many parents at Alpha School were concerned about negative self-talk because their kids couldn't finish their work in the 2-hour window, despite heavy pressure to do so. Leaderboards were just one factor.
My deep dive on the "A.I.-driven" Alpha School, revealing their internal learning and enrollment data for the first time, just as the network expands into public education.
There is a big gap between the marketing and reality.

I was at an Alpha Parent Council event last fall and a major topic of concern was negative self talk amongst the 3rd-4th graders. Kids were saying they were stupid, they felt dumb, crying, etc. The saddest part is that these kids are all incredibly bright.
Leaderboards were written on a classroom whiteboard and prominently displayed for everyone to see. Shame is a powerful motivator.
Only ~20% of the kids got an Epic Day, meaning they completed all their work in the 2hr period. The rest had to complete their work at home.
A solo developer used AI to build an open-source version of Math Academy. Mathua.com doesn't have the polish of a commercial product yet. It's only a matter of time until AI closes that gap.

Anthropic is building a multi billion dollar equity slush fund it controls and can use however they want. They’re promising none of it will go to lobbying or political influence. What could possibly go wrong?

X is genuinely incredible for networking. It’s basically LinkedIn for people who don’t smell their own farts.
Best use of AI I've seen this week: my 10yo son used Claude to make WoW-style quests for his friends to do at outdoor camp today. Clearing branches from the trails, counting birds, that kind of thing. Rolled them up and tied them with red yarn to hand out.
Porsche launched the Mission S this morning, @Tesla launched the Roadster tonight.

Holy shit y’all are not ready for tonight’s Tesla Roadster demonstration.
There is a massive ramp 😂
Today’s Roadster launch event at 7:55pm is about an hour after sunset. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
Maybe we should start a competitor to Amazon 🤔
amazon is blocking grok @bots from ordering, and elon's answer is just have your bot buy it somewhere else.
one of my grok bots only handles my amazon returns, so i'm watching this one closely.
would you switch stores for your bot? 🛒
Elon, i think its time for an X Shop? 👀
