THE ANNUAL WEYONJE SANITATION CHALLENGE AMONG KAMPALA’S FIVE DIVISIONS IS BACK! WHICH DIVISION WILL WIN THE TROPHY THIS YEAR? 🏆 Today, we launched the 2026 Weyonje Sanitation Challenge in Kitalanga Zone, Kasanga Parish, Makindye Division, together with Makindye Town Clerk Mr Ssentongo Thomas, Director Physical Planning @Byendaimira , Executive Secretary Public Health Hon @NalukwagoJudith , Makindye Division political leaders, LC1 Chairpersons, Makindye Community SACCO, @towauchafu , Tubikiima waste collectors and residents. We kicked off the challenge with a community cleanup and sensitisation, engaging residents on proper waste management and collective responsibility for cleaner, healthier communities. The five divisions will compete and be assessed on: ✅ Solid Waste Management

✅ Greening & Beautification

Today, I joined the Weyonje Community Clean-Up in Butukirwa Zone, organised by the Nakawa Town Clerk Mr Sempa, and led by the @KCCAUG Deputy Executive Director @BenonKigenyi . We engaged residents on the importance of taking responsibility for the waste they generate. Keep Kampala clean by disposing of waste responsibly, sorting it at source, using the right collection channels, and desisting from littering and indiscriminate dumping. Waste should also be handled and stored appropriately to protect public health and our environment. A clean Kampala is a shared responsibility-KCCA, communities, businesses and waste management partners must all play their part. Thank you to our partners @Ecoserve, #cityambiancescouts, @TowaUchafuNanusu and Nakawa Community Sacco for supporting this important community initiative. Yesterday, I joined the Weyonje Community Clean-Up in Kikajo Zone, Kisenyi II Parish, Central Division, organised by the Town Clerk and led by the KCCA Executive Director @Buzeki_Sharifah . Together with the deputy director @BenonKigenyi ,Director ICT, Deputy Director public health,Dr Walyomo, Hon. Councillors, partners including 7 Hills, Ghetto Structures, Towa Uchafu Nanusu and Nabugabo Updeal, and the residents, we emphasised that a clean and healthy Kampala requires routine cleaning beyond clean-up days. Our message was clear: let us maintain clean neighbourhoods, practise good hygiene, sort waste at source, dispose of solid waste responsibly, and ensure safe and proper emptying of faecal sludge. We also highlighted the need to expedite ongoing road construction works to improve access, drainage and the overall health environment. 🙏 Thank you to the residents of Kikajo and all our partners for your commitment and active participation. Sustainable cleanliness is a shared responsibility. Together, we can build a cleaner, healthier and more liveable Kampala.
