Nigerians were living on their own peacefully and all of a sudden in 1969 the Ghanaian government decided to deport all Nigerians from Ghana for doing absolutely nothing forgetting there are also ghanians in Nigeria
Then in 1983 The Nigerian government deported all ghanians from Nigeria as a retaliation

I took it as the word itself not being a โslurโ, which is what everyone seems to be focusing on. And now it seems our Nigerian brothers and sisters think it is too...
I think what home girl is actually saying is that the โthisโ and โthatโ attached to the word carry negative connotations.
Otherwise, why would the word itself be a problem? We have several words to describe groups of people. As with anything, surely it's what is said after, or how it's said, that can make it problematic? No?

Government of Ghanaโs statement on the tragic killing of Javits Frimpong in the Bronx, New York.
I have spoken to the father of Javits, Mr. Thomas Frimpong and directly conveyed the condolences of the Government and people of Ghana.
On my instructions, officials of our Permanent Mission in New York have visited the family and coordinating with local authorities.
The Foreign Ministry will work tirelessly with US authorities to ensure justice is secured.
The family of Javits and his loved ones remain in our thoughts and prayers. May God grant his lovely soul a peaceful repose.

itโs sad because the dad said that just 3 days before his son was killed, the principal suspended the boys who were bullying him and assured him that everything was fine. they severely downplayed the situation.
